How do you beat Washington?

I've lost to him at least five times now, I need a little help on how to beat him. I'm using John Kerry. The closest I've come to winning was having 197 electoral votes.

You cheat, just like the enemy does. Usually editting a the character you like to have 3 more stamina and 2x more money to start with makes it even.

I beat him the other day, but I was using my killer Howard Dean/Ed Broadbent team (Dean has good stamina, money, fundraising to build up HQs in start, Ed has good experience, and personal qualities (credibility, integrity, compassion, etc.). I focused on HQs and political capital with spare stamina for the first 25-30 weeks, then got endorsements and TV ads and made a comeback (truth be told, I saved at week 39, got Al Gore'd (win popular vote, lose FL), retried and won FL and TX to get over 300). Awesome. I have yet to beat Lincoln using Kerry and beat FDR using GW Bush.
