How do I find Spying attack research for the Seeker Vessel for the Advent?

(Or i've looked everywhere and can't find it, haha, sorta like the Advent Refinery thingy too...) :)

Hi,

I'm looking for the spying attacks research icon, well, you know... the icon to start the research for the spying attacks, but completely missed it. Does anyone know where it is?  On Hostile, or Harmony pages? And what does the silly icon look like?  Haha, boy this is silly, but i guess i'm tired and i'm not seeing something.  :)

Think what you're referring to is Martyrdom.  Grants Seeker Vessels the ability to suicide attack.  Tier 4 Research in the Hostility Tree in the Ascension subgroup.

As for Advent refining, that's Tier 4 Research in the Harmony tree in the Materialism subgroup called Resource Focus.  Advent have to switch their trade ports between generating credits or resources.

The Seeker Vessel has a passive ability that allows you to see the gravity well it died in for a period of time, as well as the ability to Martyr itself on a hostile target (in layman's terms, smash itself into an enemy ship). I don't think either qualifies as a spying attack.

The Revelation Battlecruiser, however, has a ability called Clairvoyance which allows temporary viewing of any known gravity well, explored or unexplored (unexplored meaning you know it exists, but haven't been there). Being a capital ship ability, it does not appear on either research tree, but requires you to add ability points to it and it requires antimatter to cast.

The third candidate for a "spy attack" is another capital ship ability called Subversion, belonging to the Antorak Marauder. It sends down an espionage team down to the planet to act as covert reconaissance (a remote probe, basically) and hinder ship and structure production rates at that gravity well.

Ahhhh... thank you very much. I was tweaking the advent scout and saw the spying attacks ability listed for it. And since it was a frigate i guessed it would be found in the research tree since it didnt appear when the scout was first created. Anyway, i appreciate your answers very much. I think they call different things different names in different places, meaning in the file it is called final attack, but in the research tree as you mentioned it is called martyrdom. I wish they called things the same name, it would be easier.  :)  The spying attacks listed in the scout file, must be one of the other research items you mentioned, perhaps the perserverance one you mentioned, i remember it now, but because the file referred to spying attacks, i thought it was something else. Anyway, thank you very much guys, appreciate the help.

Take care and keep modding!!   :)

Ahhh... found it, you were right, it was the perserverance research for the spying attacks ability. I am guessing it means that if you are attacked while spying (exploring) then there is a lingering view presence at that grav well. Strange that the names are different, but well, perhaps there were different teams working on different parts of the game when they were developing it. Anyway, thanks anyway. Take care,

Sins was made from scratch by 9 people :P No different teams!

Just that not all file names are easily recognizeable. ;)

Ahhh... i am sorry, i didnt mean different companies, i just thought if there were like 9 people, 3 people did art, 1 did files, one did business and two did marketing, that sort of thing. I meant if you were working on the research and called them lingering presence, i might be doing the files and you tell me, "Teal, im working on this research where the advent scout gets killed in a grav well, but well... we're going to have a "view" ability for that event for that well for a little while afterward."

And i say "Okie" and run off and code it in the files, and i think, hmmm... what do i call it? How about spying attacks? Since that is what the scout is doing when its killed?  Hmmm... might work.

Anyway, that is all i meant, sorry if i offended, just was thinking of a reason why the names would be different, and having two different people work on those parts was the first idea that came to mind that seemed to answer why, thats all.

Sorry if i offended,

Take care,

Nah, you didn't offend :P I was just pointing out that there was one team that pretty much shared most tasks
