My First Online Multiplayer Experience... Not That Good

For my first multiplayer online game, I joined a 4 player game. Once the game loaded, it was lagging right away, but it does that for me offline and goes away after a minute so I stayed. Then, I noticed it was running smoothly but when I click to build stuff nothing happens. Then I clicked Menu, Network and saw that everyone disconnected. I thought maybe 4 players was alot of people online, because it was my first time online. Next I joined an 8 player game, which ended up being 4v4. It worked very well for about 30-45 minutes. Then, I was away for about 10 seconds, I come back and there's a MiniDump message on the screen. Is online this bad for everyone else too? I've heard that many people have the MiniDump problem, but does it happen often?

Ive had one minidump error in about 30 games so there not that common. I think it may depend on your connection though so its different for different people. The one time I got the minidump error, before the game had started one of the players said to me that he'd been getting disconnected a lot recently so I think that was what caused it.

It might also be related to your network and router settings.  I suggest reading the Technical forum and perhaps posting about it.  Is your firewall set to allow Sins?  Etc.
