Who is Doing Negative Ads?

Let The Candidates Decide

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=5803765&page=1

In any election, since media became a factor, political campaigns have had negative ads.  Some worse than others (the Daisy Ad), and some just funny.  Most are just designed to show the shortcomings of the opponent, figuring (rightly or wrongly) that voters will not see the shortcomings without being lead to them.

So who is the king of negative ads in this campaign?  If we ask the media, or the pundits, or the emotional "Wanna-bee" reporters, or even blogdom, I am sure we are going to get many answers.  But when it comes right down to it, who would know more about what ads their campaign is running?  The Candidates.

So let's allow one to speak for himself:

"If we're going to ask questions about, you know, who has been promulgating negative ads that are completely unrelated to the issues at hand, I think I win that contest pretty handily," Obama said.

I guess the messiah has spoken.  So for all the foreigners thinking that McCain is the bad guy, who are you going to believe?  Some biased media pundit?  A blog?  Or the candidate himself.

I wonder if Obama is going to run this ad in all 57 states?

Now we know why Obama is making more money for his campaign than McCain. He needs the extra doug to cover up his constant foul-ups. He needs money for an ad, then he needs money for an ad to expalin the previous ad that made it seem as if he was bashing himself. :typo:

If a guy who bashes Bush is called a Bush basher, what do you call Obama bashing on himself? :\

It actually is just a demonstration of why he should not be president.  A mistake like that, and Russia gets half of europe.  And he is worried about Bush (should be Clinton) selling the US to the Chinese?

The times are a-changing, though.  I like my leaders to know what's going on in the world. :D

teh interwebz and teh computerz are a major part of global society these days.  It's kind of like giving the telephone a pass and sticking with letters and carrier pigeons because they still work. :)

You dont have to be a letter carrier to mail a letter, and you sure dont need to know how to send an email to get one sent.  It is called delegation.  And we actually had a president that would not do that.  You may have heard of him.  Jimmy Carter?

They are a team, she is one heartbeat away and with McCains age it is VERY relavant to talk that way more so than with Obama.  Now I am not saying that McCain will not make it through his presidency he may live as long or longer than his mom, but I think it is a fair qestion.  Maybe she at least knows how to spell potato....lol

Well, you may wanna tell Obama that the US Flag has 50 stars for a reason, that when talking about "negative ads" honesty isn't always the best policy, that Palin is not running for President and that Biden disapproves of his VP choice.

Not at all.  After all, Obama's mother died very young (about 5 years older than Obama is now).  McCain's mother is still alive.

Zoo, you might want to investigate the candidates yourself rather than rely on talking points.

Senator McCain can’t use a computer because of his injuries. He can’t lift his arms but so high and typing is painful for him, he has people to do that for him.

As far as knowing what is going on, he already does. What he does not know will be provided to him, that is why we have these organizations like the FBI, CIA DHS and so on. They give the president a daily brief so he knows exactly what is going on in the world long before you wake up.

So why is it that when we are discussing Senator Obama people try to counter it with the VP candidate from the other party? Is it because Senator Obama is only as good as the oppositions VP?

No.  It is because the VP of that party is very very scary.  Very very conservative and a flat out liar.  I mean there's bending the truth and then there is lying.  She said she ended the bid for the bridge to nowhere, not true in fact she is still behind"a bridge" project for that same area.  She said that Alaska supplies 20% of the US energy, not true.  Plus she cant even go out on her own, she has to have McCain or his handler holding her hand everywhere and she wont answer questions.  Really they have released and she has said what some of her positions are but really "Who is Sarah Palin?"  I don tthink we will really truely know before the campaign is over, because the handlers dont want us to.

Anyone can go anytime, but it is much more likely that McCain will pass away before Obama will, we are playing percentages here.

You know, I'm going to sound like an ass for a second.

When is this POW stuff going to run its course?  I saw McCain using it as an excuse or something when he was questioned about not knowing the number of houses he owns.  Is it really okay for him to drudge that up every time someone criticizes him?  I mean, it's a horrible thing for sure...but to use it as a shield for anything you don't want to talk about?  Kind of a dick move.  Much like race with Obama...let's whip it out for no apparent reason!

As far as knowing what is going on, he already does.
End of quote

Ask him about Sunni and Shia...I hear he's a real expert on telling them apart. :)

And that's enough poking at conservatives...for the moment. ;)

good point Doc.  I hadn't quite thought about it like this although I did notice McCain's mom looked very good for her age at the RNC.  I figured they were trying to make a statement everytime they put the camera on her saying "check out these genes."

Think about the President who died after one month in office.  He caught a cold at his inauguration, and died of pneumonia.  Nobody expected that.  Of course nobody expected a young John Kennedy would die either or an Abe Lincoln either.  Yet look how old Reagan was and how he made it through not one but two terms.  Who knows maybe McCain will run in 2012.

ya never know.

So this is just another Dem talking point but really has no legs to it.  (Tumbleweed).
