Ultimate Bundle Pack DVD?

Will there be one and does anyone know when? I want to buy basic game and all expansions at once, but always try to have original CD/DVD's close which I trust and playing them years after release(like XCOM and MOO2) you never know what happens  and say 15 years in the future, I wouldn't want to rely on dloads alone.

You could get the download version of the game, archive it and burn the archived copy and Impulse/Stardock Central to the disk as well for future storage.

15 years later, there'll be a Galactic Civilizations III. :P

This game is great, but sooner or later, it's going to have to evolve, or no-one's going to be playing it anymore.

MOO made an attempt to evolve, but that didn't work out right. Not all sequels are accepted by the game's following.

True, but then again, Stardock isn't like Microprose. ;)

Every installment and expansion of the Galactic Civilizations series has, overall, been a drastic improvement each time. I think they have a proven track record of evolving correctly.

This is my favorite game right now, but five years later, I don't think I would be happy with just Twilight of the Arnor.

If you do that, can you re-install the entire game, plus all the expansions and updates solely from the burned discs? Is it like having the official CDs in your hands?

From the point in which you archived, I believe so. Someone a TAD more familiar in this aspect will hopefully stop by (like Kryo).

Which doesn't matter since MOO3 was made by Quicksilver. ;)

Yeah, I understand that this could be done. But I'm not sure the CD I'd burn would be factory quality and wouldn't begin to show signs of deterioration just as I'd need it, Murphy's law and all.

Like was said often the newer games are not as good as the older versions and even with GalCiv's rep of improving constantly you never know. I'm certain I don't like TOO much innovation. Civilization has a perfect rep as well and millions buyers but IMO ver C3 is the best visually and ver C2 the most playable. Same thing with XCOM3 or AOE 3 or Empire Earth 3, far worse than ver 2 of those games IMO.

Seems most companies don't deliver ver 3 or 4(Civ, HoMM) of their games. At least to my liking, some people liked these games as well as the predecessors. But I'm different.

I see there is a debate on Impulse/SDC. Is Impulse obligatory now(I have neither)? And even if I archive the game, do I have to re-activate it if I install on a clean machine(assuming that I maybe formatted or done anything that would erase the game installation)?

Cause that wouldn't help if there is no site left to activate in a theoretical scenario(and ofcourse I want to be optimistic, but big software companies failed before so I'd rather have all the bases covered) say in a few years, 6-7-8 from now.
Hopefully will not happen, but what if it does?
