request regarding superhero skins

can we have an alternate substyle?

Hello skinners!

I have  a big favor to ask to those who create superhero skin themes. Your work is superb , all of you, but  I don't like pictures of superheroes on my desktop. I would love to use your skins, but they all have one thing in common, no substyle without the artwork of the actual superhero.

Could you please consider creating a substyle to these skins that keeps the beautiful work but doesn't include the superhero logos, and images?

some skins I refer to: the spider man skins, the aquaman skins , the captain america skins etc and so on. They are all beautiful skins on their own even without the logos and images. I would love to use them  but won't while they don't include substyles with just the artwork suggesting the comic( a web , scales, stripes/stars etc. those look great till you add the face, hand, logo etc)

I agree.Without bats, bugs and such, there are some that just look "super" on their own.Really great work,I just don't care for the logo's everywhere.

actually I don't mind the bats bugs and such. it's the persona and the logos I object to.
substyle would be great with all but spiderman, wonderwoman, aquaman, captain america, marvel comics logos etc.

I guess that's the point of themes though. :D I'm a Fantastic 4 fan.The comics,not the movie.

Thats what I'm talking about.. same skin just slightly different for those who enjoyed the skin but not the logo.

I always thought the Logos, names and graphics were a part of copyright infringement of Marvel and DC comics. Sorry don't want to be a stick in the mud but I've seen a lot of skins turned down by copyright rules but these are aloud. Why?

On the other hand they are great skins and would be useable without the extra graphics.

I think this really goes to individual likes. I don't use them because I just never got into them as a kid.

I do look at them as they are added to the gallery libraries, they are good and represent the skinners personal likes. How much fun would a skinner have doing them based upon other's likes or dislikes. I venture to say not much.

There are a lot of skins in the libraries that I have not used. Variety is what makes this community so interesting.

It usually comes down to the owners of the copyrighted material asking Wincustomize to remove the protected items. Without a request or a pattern of requests by a specific copyright holder, most fan art will stay up. ;)

I wouldn't mind seeing logo free versions. As was previously stated, a lot of the skins would stand on their own without the trademarks.

I think I was misunderstood. I meant they should keep the original design, but it would be NICE to have a substyle with certain elements missing(like the action figures)

I really like Silver-Web by Apocalyse_67. I know it's an older wb but, has the look and feel of the spiderman theme without pic and logo. And still looks nice on my xp.

Would an NFL skin be considered fan art and fall under the same guide lines?

The major sports legues are very sensitive to intellectual property and trademark infringement.  I wouldn't expect to see anything like that unless it was licensed like the NBA MyColours.
