You have to find the place on your computer where Sins is installed (not the folder where all the settings are). It's usually under program files/stardock somewhere. Put the map in your Galaxy folder.

I downloaded 4 maps from the DL section and put them into my galaxy folder but the maps still won't show up?

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Won't show up in-game? Open each of those map files in Notepad and change versionNumber from 0 to 1. Patch 1.03 slightly changed how maps were detected by the game, so all the ones made before that need that one manual change to show up.

ok really. I have done everything this forum posts suggests and I too cannot get the galaxy map to show up.

I think you need to do this:

First, enable 'show hidden files and folders'. Then go to:

Documents and Settings\**Your User Name**\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire

Find the Galaxy folder in there and put the file into that folder.

No, Galaxy Forge made maps need to go into the Galaxy folder of wherever you installed Sins, not the Docs and Settings/User path ;)

Sticking them in the user path will cause them to end instantly after loading. It is a bit confusing :P

Ok ok it was stupid. I finally found all the maps I downloaded and edited them and copied them into the right place. Now it all works. Thanks guys

Ah, thanks Annatar. I was thinking of mods I guess. Apologies Cohortq. Glad you got it working though, despite my misguided post.
