Expansion Request: No Space Elves Allowed

Expansion Request: No Space Elves Allowed

I freely admit that I hate all elves.  LOTR elves, space elves/Eldar, dark elves, light elves, green elves, brown elves, orange and blue striped elves, Elfquest elves, Christmas elves, Keebler elves.  I'm just sick of seeing them.  An elf in a game means to me that the developer couldn't be bothered to think of anything better, of which just about anything is better than elves.  I have to get this out on the table.

I realize that I am not in agreement with many others who really love elves.  I don't hate those people, I just really don't like the object of their affections.

While I do enjoy a certain satisfaction in blowing up elves in videogames, it's not enough to make me want to have them in the upcoming Sins expansion.   If my vote (if there are votes) counts for anything, devs: please do not make the new races elf-based in the expansion pack.

I suppose if those who wish to defend the honour of elves want to speak up, this would be the time to do so.  Elvis (i.e. The Kind Of Rock And Roll) is different.  Elvis I like a lot, however, I would be mortified to have to blow up The King in any game of Sins.  Ah-uh huh, thank you very much.

squats would be funny, but seriously guys, leave the 40k stuff to the Battlefleet gothic mod:

WWW Link

See, warhammer. I can't wait till we get the mod tools (hint).

Just stay original and smart guys and we'll love it :CONGRAT:.

Ah your right. (sadly) What do you think that the race chasing the Vasari are?

Well, their men certainly aren't all that masculine. Anyone who's played Dawn of War knows this quite well, especially if they've seen Fire Dragons in action.

It would be interesting to see something like the Kyulek in O.R.B. Blurring the line between living ships and piloted craft would be an interesting thing to see.

And vacuum creatures would be something awesome to see. Basically, ultra-giant space sharks. How often do you get to see that?

DoW ant the best of ways to guage the Eldar. In teh Fluff there actually pretty badass. Read Fulgrim.

And yes space sharks would be neat.

I'd like to see some insectoids or crystalline entities.
A race of advanced crystalline beings that spread like a virus across space. With slow "ships" and a need to get close to do damage, but able to do ridiculous damage to planets over time, making them uninhabitable after so long and growing a new crystal population as it kills off the old one. Killing this race's vessels could provide crystal resources per destroyed ship. I don't think I've seen such a think in an RTS before.

I vote Cthulu!
Squids rule!

Angry pissed off squids> pretty elf cliche

That eleven elves right there.

As for the op, TwELVEfield.

Now that makes twelve elves.

Sorry, just had to do it. :D

Sins is already genre-standard: Terrans, zerg, protoss. It's not unusual, but it's not really bad either - at least they didn't give the typical races their typical qualities (ie, terrans are zerg-rushers, Vasari have expensive high quality units, etc).

What I'd be more concerned about is 'stupid expansion race' disease. Expansion races usually don't balance with the old races and often don't fit the setting.

Well there is a planned race. The ones that chased the Vasari out and are still chasing them. Besides this isnt Star Craft this is actually something really good. If they planned the race out there shouldnt be a problem. And something tells me that they did.

no what i would really like is another human race that are communist and base their entire fleets on spamming less advanced crap into an area until the capatalists give the defenders stinger missiles and then the communists loose (afganastan) then the capatalists invade and win kinda but the the communists invade an area that they did the same thing to the capatalists and take over (vietnam)...
no i think i would really like to see 2 new races mabye a race of living ships or a race that coexists with living ships and mabye have a moving planet??
and a race of lizards that eat ginger and took over world war 2 earth hisss hisss

william knight HOW COULD YOU CALL STARCRAFT BAD!!!!!!!

Becuase I just did.
Sorry I'm a vet of the DoW and DoWII boards we get attacked by SCII fans constantly it was just a reaction. Were taking doing emergency drill to get ready for the real thing. THE WAR IS COMING SOON!

But seriously I'm tired of when SC fans start complaining becuase a game isnt like SC. "Oh that game isnt balanced enough!" or "Artwork is bland!" And really good one they like throwing around "The Story suxs!!!" or another of "Why do they keep adding aliens they should just stick with two or three!" And we say becuase WH40k is badass and has a huge background. Then they start saying how much Warhammer ripped off of SC! Then the arguemnts boil over to more esotoric stuff like Nids and Zerg. Or whos more badass SM or TM. It's a freaking world war III over there! And it's only going to get worse.

Jeez you should have seen the first war. I can still remeber it as if it were yesterday. (Flashback) We DoW had set up a board on Gamespot for the sole purpose for talking about wh40k and joking around. And talking about teh nuances of the Warhammer universe. Serious discussion of teh game had died out months before meaning that only the most friendly of groups would arrive and discuss all things good and holy. Then news struck us. Star Craft II had been announced. Then THEY came out of teh SCII boards an army of zealots and fanboys came in from teh great void seperating the various boards. Within a span of a single day our little community was besieged by foul heretics! Our board was overflowing with badly written threads started by the Zealots. Each heretic profusing on why Warhammer sucked. And how the Emperor could be killed by Kerrigan or Jim Raynor could take on a Grey Knight and win or how teh Zerg could defeat teh Tryanids. Twas a black month of poorly written threads and bad grammar.BUT WE HELD FIRM!!! And we pushed them back! And soon were staging raidsat there own boards. Soon hostilties have ceased. Till now the Uber-Troll the Herald of teh Board Wars has returned BadKarma!!! And he brings woth him tidings of another board war! So we now prepare agaisnt that black day when were are swampped once more.

So thats the Gamespot forums in a nutshell.

They could make evil versions of the TEC, Advent, and Vasari. Just Photoshop goatees onto their faces, make their techs more sinister sounding, and you're set.

I'd also love to see a race of space squirrels. Evil space squirrels.

Yes, like the Imperial Guard. Look at them now, they're just a joke faction when they used to be worth something late game.

And in a further expansion, there would be a race of warrior-lawyers who are armed with copyright infringement fighing weaponry.

To be fair to the Starcraft people they are probably just getting their revenge, because when Starcraft was first released a hell of a lot of people just bitched about the races being 40K rip-offs. (For the record, likes both Starcraft and 40k)

/ signed. No elves, maybe elvish and proud, but no pointy ear's elves! ;:O
Reply #49 Top
Well it was a rip off. But thats not the point we never gone to there boards EN MASSE and wreaked holy havoc. In fact we still dont aside from the most vengeful of us.

Wuss.

A true 40Ker would garb themselves in the might of the Emperor and invade the SCII forums in true Space Marine (or even better, Orky) fashion, cleansing the heretics and putting the apostates to the sword.
