so are we going to get a serious answer? I would like to know too :P I don't see anywhere that says income is +0.5 due to traders in 2 Systems. (for e.g.)

Well I think some of the planet abilities that you can find through exploration give you a clue.

There are:
High Security System: Soo um, security?
Ionic storms: ions?
Large Glaciers: water?

Thats basicly it :D

So artifacts are traded. Do they change any attributers of the planets that receive the traded googs?

No, he meant that if you have one of those artifacts on a planet, their trade will increase. He's just saying "Why would an Ion storm help with trade, unless your trading ions!!!"

move your mouse-cursor up to the credits-tab in your game, you will get an overview of what your planets produce and what each planet gets bonus thanks to tradestations.

aside of that, they load stuff like local specialities and sell them at other far away stations. some planets even mention things like medical herbs and such as reason for aditional trade-income

Same thing with orbital refineries... no idea exactly what it is they do.

they produce small vessels like the tradestations which fly to mines and increase the rate (think of it like getting rough material loaded and bringing it to an refinerie where it is refinied for better use)

elements:
Silver, gold, iron, hydrogen, etc...
used in manufacturing

molecules: Plastics, water, etc.
used in manufacturing and consumption.

Also, finished products, art, rugs, baskets, etc... anything that is handmade by artists.

Also, high quality goods. Computers, guns, etc.
Just like in the US today I can buy an american made smith and wessen, an israeli desert eagle, a russian AK47 (well I could if machine guns were legal here :P).

Foods could also be a good possibility. Different planets offer different climates for different foods to grow. Not to mention the local government might have restrictions on exporting livestock or whatever to prevent loss of revenue. (you can export Xxzort steaks, but not live Xxzorts which can be used to start herds on other planets... cause thats loss of revenue for planet momlambo)

So knowone really knows how trading works. All everyone knows is that you get additional money if a trade network is in place?

Boats powered by human fat.

the distance between your furthest two planets from each other who are still connected by a trade network (exclude uncolonizeable worlds) is measured. It determines the base trade income per trade station. (there is a little variety, but its generally 2.5 to 3 credits a second per trade station). You then get that amount of money based on how many trade stations you have total, multiple stations on the same planet DO stack.

If a trade ship is destroyed you loose some money and the person who killed it gains some.

I would think of orbital refineries as collecting the normal waste material from the mines and re-processing it to extract what the mine was unable to.

As for trade stations, YOUR WOMEN!!! :HOT:

They are legal here all you have to do is get a permit for them. They cost around $400 then you have to buy them that are around $7G's and up.

Well in patch 1.3 I hope they add something to the info you get when holding over different things like trade ships, and refineries etc. Exp: A trade ship would say how much it is hauling and what you were getting from it each time it delivered. I think I'll post this in the patch 1.3 thread as well.

They trade commodities, how friggin complicated is that? They ferry products to new markets, which then get sold and boost the economy.

Not "friggin complicated" just details that need to be included in a game like this. IMO it was released unfinished and not having more detail the Beta testers did nothing to tell the company about it to fix it. IMO this is nothing more then Space Total War another RTS without the 4X game play. If they finish the game now that it’s out it may become great. However, this is a game for the younger generation with less detail and scope so as not to overheat the brain matter. For us dinosaurs of 4X gaming this is too simple. It looks great with GFX but simple.

i think what he means is... look up what is currently traded between countries on earth and you will have your answer...

And snap, I got beaten to the woman suggestion (actually I was gonna say sexbots... but close enough)
