I've seen this too.

Fredrik, I loaded both of the saved games that you sent me, pressed the turn button and things progressed normally.

(:( I played the game this morning for a bit, and got this problem as the game progressed. It would happen occationally, but i'd be able to get out of if by messing around with my ships' movement. However, once all my ships were destroyed, I got to a point where the turn button stayed pressed and I had to quit the game 'cause nothing I did would "unstick" the button.

Strange Cari. Here it's reproducable every time (using the manual savegame) All I have to do there is to press turn once. Hmm something else may differ then in our installations. Or whatever. Since you've got a few ppl getting the error here, it shouldnt be that hard to reproduce yourself. Ehh btw - try the different autoturn settings, that may differ I presume.

Bump, same problem here. Sometimes restoring game delays this process for while but inevitably it reoccurs.

Is this like what I saw in Alpha 4 (just a couple of days ago, so I didn't report it)? When
I first noticed it I had trouble getting the "next turn" function to complete. Reloading the
game would allow me to continue. Then I noticed that hitting the tab key advanced it
through the next turn funtion, each time showing an explosion where an enemy was
attacking ships orbiting my stars. I didn't know if this was intentional or an error, but
in either case it was not very smooth.

So, when you see this again you might want to try the tab key and see if it gets by
this problem. Let everyone know how it works.

Cheers,
Jack

Well, I had fixed one thing that caused this bug (apparently more than one thing causes it) yesterday before the build went up, so whether your instance of the bug was the same as Fredrik and Cunak's is debatable.

Anyway, I tried reproducing the bug with the saved games again with autoturn turned off, and I was able to reproduce it a couple of times but since I couldn't see what was going on with the AI ship that was causing it because it was hidden under FOW, I wasn't sure what was going on. Basically, it was being blocked, and it kept re-calculating a path, and still returning that it wasn't done moving. I wanted to see what was causing it to be blocked, so that I'd know if it was trying to do something like go under a planet. I tried running it in a build without FOW and that really messed things up, so I had to end up writing code that would let me compile a version that still drew the fow but would let me see the ships and stuff under the explored but not visible areas anyway. So once I did that, I was unable to reproduce the bug. Anyway, I'm still working on it...

BTW, me too. Turn button lost the text and coudn't proceed. Saved, returned but still the same. :(

OK, now I am getting it just as described by Fredrik. This time it does look very
different from in Alpha 4.

Can you guys send me your games and indicate in the e-mail if you were playing with autoturn, etc.? Maybe if I have more samples I'll have an easier time tracking this down...I'm playing a game today, so hopefully I'll be able to reproduce it too...

Can do when I get home from work. I normally play with autoturn off. I did trying restoring and changing autoturn selection and that would extend the play time a little on some restores but eventually same problem would crop up.

Could someone provide the folder name and file name that I should send to Cari?

Thanks

If you send me your autosave files, I'll need the AutoSave.sav file and the AutoSave folder. This is the file that is saved every 12 turns. If you want to send me a game that you saved yourself, it'll be the test.sav and test folder.

I lost the autosave files. I was playing with autoturn off. There was one thing I did
that may have caused it. I tried to move a ship before the completions GNN screen
appeared and before the tone for the GNN screen. Then the ship moved and the GNN
screen popped up and the game froze. I will try to recreate it and save the autosave
game files.

Jack

OK, I'm pretty sure that this is fixed for good this time. If it occurs with the next build, it'll be caused by yet another problem...

Ok, I just ran into this problem with the newest version (the update to alpha 5). I had autoturn enabled, and it occurred right after I had sent a colony ship into autopilot. This was the only ship not in orbit at the time. I tried moving a defender out of orbit and it says that it has 1 move left, but won't allow me to move it. One other thing that might go along with the problem is that the buttons on the bottom of the diplomacy also had no text (but were still clickable). Anyway, I saved the game right after it happened, so if you want it I can e-mail it to you

I had that too. But after I deleted my galciv-directory and installed it again, the buttons were fine.

Jusjoly: yes, if the turn button is still stuck when you re-load the save game...but it does sound like your build wasn't updated completely...
