There have been some reports that the Ubi Soft Safe Disc CD protection mechanism causes the game to crash on some systems where it cannot detect a CD-ROM drive.

If that is the case:

(1) Make sure you download 1.01

(2) Contact support@ubisoft.com about this.

(3) Post here so that we also know about it.

(4) In a pinch, you can email me at bwardell@stardock.com if you are interested in trying out an unofficial version that may resolve it.

Actually, it's the prefs.ini file. Political Machine would have to be failing pretty early to not generate the prefs.ini file, but if you can't find it, here are instructions for creating a shortcut with a commandline parameter:

1) Use Windows Explorer to find PolMachine.exe.
2) Right click on PolMachine.exe and choose create shortcut.
3) Right click on the shortcut and choose properties.
4) Click in the target field and hit end. Hit Space followed by the word NOINTRO.
5) Click OK to close the shortcut properties and use the shortcut to start TPM.

If you e-mailed support@stardock.com over the weekend, you should receive a response today if you didn't yesterday, but support doesn't work weekends.

I just bought this game and can't get it working. Same problem others have been having. If I do the w parameter or skip intro then I get a Windows device failure error and am put in a psuedo-safe mode untill I restart. I have a Radeon 7000. I also have a CD-RW. I've tried using V1.01, V1.01b and V1.02, but no luck. Can someone help me out?
