Aloha!

The official name of the project is Sins of Alethia. This name was chosen because Alethia, daughter of Zeus is the Greek goddess of truth. Both the Cylons and humans believe they are on the side of truth in their respective intrepid struggles. Consequently we felt strongly a failure to acknowledge this point as the central element of cause would be a disservice to the community and franchise proper.

This project is really a love letter to all fans of Battlestar Galactica. As a community we firmly believe the show is fantastic, and there's no reason why this stunning vision of an alternate Sci-Fi reality should not, and can not be brought to Sins. We are hoping to achieve not only an accurate representation of classical and contemporary BSG lore, but to also pay tribute fans by firmly grounding the project in the extensive BSG fan-fiction lovingly crafted by its followers and incorporate our own in to the mix.

Since its debut in 1978 to its 2003 re-imagining, its true to say that individual details regarding the universe are somewhat sketchy at best. With that in mind its our aspiration to fill in these gaps, as necessary, to create the strongest and most enjoyable gaming experience possible with this project for both the Sins and by extension the general BSG communities.



Currently we dont have a formal production time-line planed out; nor do we plan on developing one for the project. Everyone has their own ideas for how BSG could work in Sins, and there are some pretty firm thoughts on what should work and what would work. However there is also much to learn about the modding tools once we get them all as well as what limits we will have to work under within the engine. So it seemed impractical to try establish artificial limits with such unknown variables. We'll certainly let you all know about events and happenings as they arise.

Needless to say, expect the Cylon forces and Human Colonials to clash in an epic conflict of both ideals and survival!



Any and all help offered would be greatly appreciated. Concept artists, modelers and texturers along with anyone who feels they can give some good, solid, constructive input into the project are more than welcome to discuss, participate and bring your ideas to the table.

Its cool. The new season rocks.

So does anyone want to be on the last skin-job? I think it is Anastasia "Dee" Dualla, portrayed by Kandyse McClure. The only hottie to not really have any action so far. This is her season to be sure. Moreover because the name Anastasia is Greek for resurrection.

Spartan I love the work you are doing, and as a side mod away from the Stargate mod, I have been working at putting some BSG ships into Sins. The first of which is the Pegasus.

I would like to point out that this is IN NO WAY related to this mod, but I figured I would show her off here as it is BSG related... the Model is Coxxons, minus the turrets. Had to take them off, haha they were way to high poly... If you guys want I can send you the files so you can look at what I have set up... here are the pics.

@Eomega - thanks. Those look real good. Hell you should join the project. As far as the models go please post them on the project forums. I'm sure our modeling person would like to look at them.

ok i just want to say this and only this, i like the idea of a BSG mod in this game. I just want to say dont stick to the story, if you havnt noticed a story in this genre of game is impossible to stick to. For one they don't colonize planets in the BSG series (aside from new caprica) and they dont build new ships aside from vipers and they only start doing that in the later series. So what you need to do is just like in the skirmish for the BSG fleet command mod for homeworld 2 just make the sides according to the show, ie ship designs and technologies but leave it at that. Sure tweak the jump system if you can and stuff like that but trying to make a 4X strategy like this where you colonize and mass produce ships to conquer the galaxy fit into a story about a single battlestar running from annihilation is just ridiculous.

Well thats my say, i say this in regaurds to the "what do you want out of the mod" forum that i read on your main forum but i cant be botherd registering to yet another forum to just reply to the one thread. Hope you take it into account cause mods that try to storylise a game like this tend to be a huge disaster, if you dont take the advice i hope you can pull it off cause im no modder and i really want bsg ships in sins.

EDIT: pretty much just have it in like an alternate universe where instead of annihilating the 12 colonies with one swipe they just managed a pearl harbor like strike that sparks a big war between the 2 sides.

seriously though, if we make all the local militia into cylons, and the pirate base into Earth, then we would at least have the proportions close :) Make the plasma storm into the landmarks that lead to earth, with that flashing lions eye... and make the phase jumps both instant and random, so you don't know where you are going until you get there, and toss out the phase lanes entirely :)

Sounds like Stargate to me.

Actually, the search for earth thing is decent, but some simple injected logic could make it better: Make it so that it's impossible to find Earth until you've visited 50% of all planets.

I'd love to play as the Cylons and search / chase the Colonial Armada. As long as the Armada has enough AI sense to have occasional battles but mostly try to avoid the Cylons and protect the civilians.

I agree...I am a huge fan of the show and MUST have this mod. I have considered purchasing SOTS just because their looks to be a Galactica mod for it so I would love to see one here.

Nice work on the Pegasus. Though my only concern is that Pegasus is a missile bearing Battlestar not a lazer or munitions Battlestar.

well for thoose of you intrested in progress no need to worry we are making some major headway lately, with some help from the outside we have gotten many models in game and working, even the battlestars have Flak fields it looks awesome. i suggest heading over to the actual BSG mod forum BSG Forums, it may seem like a whole lot is not going on but we tend to update sparingly but with big news and what not. so ya any support you guys can give is great :)

My opinion, for what its worth ($0.00).

I would love a scenario where the Colonials have found Earth. And Earth is a radioactive ball of ash, courtesy of all our nuclear weapons. However, there are established colonies on Mars, the asteroid belt, the moons of all those gas giants (Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune) as well as a small one on Pluto, all connected by very primitive FTL capability into a Terran Confederation. Earth is near-future for us, with 3,000 years ago being Ancient Greece.

Warning: Wild Plot and Storyline Speculation Ahead:
Gods=Aliens, meaning false idols. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

They show up on Earth during Ancient Greece era, take the personas of the Greek gods, abduct some humans to Kobol as part of some experiment. Something happens, humans get sent to 12 Colonies with legends of Earth in case something happens and the Colonials need a place to run to and hide. 3,000 years after 12 Colonies founded, the Cylons attack, destroying the 12 Colonies, sending the Colonials after Earth.

Of course, Earth changed a lot in all those years.....

Empires rise and fell, worldwide wars were started and finished, and humanity reached outer space, trapped in the Solar System. With colonies all over it, connected by very limited FTL capability, unable to go beyond the borders of our Solar System, we fought, as humans do. Earth was a radioactive ball of ash when it was over, and humanity banded together under the Terran Confederation, with the name as a reminder of the high cost the unification had required, and everything was calm.

Until the Galactica jumped in, exiting directly above the Confederation capital of New Washington at the summit of Olympus Mons.

The Cylons emerged in three Basestars, just as soon as everyone was done going "What the F**K!!!", and were quickly obliterated by the orbital ion cannons.

The battle for Humanity's survival is at its most vital moment, with all of humanity in one tiny solar system, surrounded by the innumerable Cylon Empire. Humanity's only advantage is the advanced technology wrought by its constant warring. Energy shields, plasma cannons, mass drivers, burst lasers, and computer viruses even a Cylon must fear.

Plenty of ships to choose from to full fill your every need. The only downside is that you would have to get permission from the creators to use them.


Now onto my idea for the backstory!

The attack on the scorpion ship yards had just begun. A young Lieutenant sat shotgun aboard his raptor as the pilot fumbled with controls and the computer virus infected everything. The cylon fighters seemed to ignore them, hurdling past as they delivered there payloads to the many colonial vessels that lined the facilities. Just then, by some strange act, the FTL drive came online. The pilot didn't even get to type in coordinates as the lieutenant jammed his palm against the primary ignition button. They had no choice, a Raider was about to wipe them out. It was strange how the FTL suddenly worked again but what was stranger was what laid before them. Scorpion shipyards. Unharmed. Undamaged. The FTL drive had fired.
