Where is the config file?

I have searched for:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire

But it does not exist on my computer. I am using XP, and I have the downloaded version. Any idea where the config file might be, I need to change the particle count. Thank you.

You need to replace "username" with your account name.

my sins directory is:

C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire

i'm using the download/hardcopy option.

i don't know where the config file is from there, but that should point you in the right direction.

I am well aware that I had to replace username with my account, but it is not there. What is the exact name of the config file, so I can search it directly? I am not new to this sort of thing, but so far no luck, thank you.

Search for the file "user.setting"

That folder is correct, but IIRC, Local Settings is a hidden folder by default, so you might need to make it visible first (or just type the path in the address box instead of searching/browsing for it).
