Here's my attempt at a somewhat effective data-gathering method on the pirate issue.

Remember that voting for more option means more work for the poor and overworked Ironclad employees ;)

They can be fun, but the ability to change them, or at least have them scale to game speed. Would give the game more of a sand box feel.

The game seems designed around pirates, so I don't want them gone altogether. But the strength/frequency sliders are good ideas. Too bad you don't have a "both sliders, no switch" option :( So I just voted for frequency instead.

A moderate frequency slider seems very reasonable. Between 10 and 20 minutes would be a good range. Or if they want to go overboard they could ramp it to a range of 5-30 minutes. Anything wider is just silly.

while I do like playing with pirates as I always like to go an ecomomy route so they are quite usful to me (there a good idea and perfect the way they are, for me anyway), I still do believe it should be an option to enable/disable and a slider from them. More importantly though are the game stopping bugs that need to be sorted out before they add more features, please fix the game so it don't crash every 10mins-1hr as it's very frustrating have to keep reloading from a random autosave.

I think you should have a vote option for "No additional configuration required". That way, the devs could guage how many people actually want a change.

BTW I'd like to be able to configure all options, but in the main I think the frequency would be the most used. Especially if I could set it so they only turn up every 40 minutes or so.

This is an excellent idea but please add a "no changes neccessary" or a "I like them as they are" option even if it means restarting the poll. :)

I've only played for maybe two and a half hours on easy, but I've not found the pirates to be much of a problem. More of a nuisance, really. But I still support the idea of more options in games, so I voted for all of the above.
