the way to do a sins campaign is to have a universe that starts small and gets bigger as you complete objectives. the reason i didn't like the galciv campaigns was because you keep moving from map to map and have to build up tech/infrastructure over and over again. storywise you could have a matrix of plot paths that change based on any number of things, how quickly you completed an objective, mission failure, completion of secondary objectives etc. and missions shouldn't be limited to just planet capturing. you could have defense missions, specific target elimination missions ie. capitals ships or planetary structures. you would need to use a cheating ai but with that and alot of creativity a good sins campaign could be done. you could even have corny live action shorts in between missions like c&c or wing commander. but for the sins universe something more serious or elegant might be nessesary. maybe a mix of stills and VO like homeworld might work better for a game like sins.
