Tutorial does nothing?

Tutorial does nothing?

Ok so just bought and installed. Had an hour to mess with the tutorials. However i click on the basic gamepley turorial, and nothing happens. I hear a sound clip saying "If its out there i'll find it!"

What am i meant to do? Can't seem to find a manual either. Im free to move around and mess with the tutorial, and managed to move a few ships around, but isnt there like umm a tutorial telling me what to do?

Very puzzled at the moment!

I have got them working now, but they just seem to cut out at random points, tried the basic tutorial 3 times, and it just stops at differing points, same for the logistics tutorial.

Yeah, it definitely breaks at different times. Getting the tutorial to start is no guarantee that it will keep working.

Changing the resolution has made no difference for me. If the devs are going by the information in this thread, then they're going to be barking up the wrong tree.

As of right now there is no workaround. The thread title should be changed again. :)

hey tentacle...

when does it break for you? i've just played through them a couple of times and they haven't broken.

thanks

I had it break right after you colonize the first asteroid. It popped up a message about construction, and mentioned the fact that there was another tutorial with more in-depth information about that aspect of the game.

I hope that's specific enough to help. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

Changing the resolution to 1024 x 768 worked for me. however, the first time I started up the basic tutorial after changing the resolution it did bug out. a voice said "if its out there, i'll find it" and there were several enemy ships at my home planet. Restarting it fixed it for good for me.

Before I changed my resolution the basic tutorial would break when the enemy scout appears. the tutorial would stay on the auto-rebuild contructor message, the enemy scout would appear but would be invunerable.

The chances of getting it to work are low and we know why now. Your best bet is to play a small map against one easy AI until we can issue a fix for the tutorials. Ignore our previous "solutions".

Hmm... Well glad to see this post, so I know I'm not crazy, as I also am missing the tutorial instructions in the first Basic Tutorial.

I sat there wondering how this could be a tutorial. Am I supposed to figure it out myself? That would be a totally new kind of tutorial for me.

Well, this game looks great anyhow. And as a developer, I know how much stuff goes into something like this. But to release a game with a missing Basic Tutorial to a huge audience of noobs like me is a big headache.

Hopefully, a hotfix will be out quickly to fix this.

Hi guys, it appears there a problem with some computers and various resolutions with the tutorials. You should be able to play them if you stay at 1024x768. You can then change to a higher resolution to play the regular game. We'll fix this right away but this will get you going.

This is why it was marked as resolved.

I for some reason cannot change my resolution. In fact there are no resolutions listed as options to change. Also whenever I change anything in the video options (such as AA) I am not given the option to "Apply Settings".

Restarting the game re-enabled all tutorials for me. I just can't seem run them in the same session when a change of resolution or settings occured.

Same thing happened to me. Reload the tutoial until it works. It will work eventually. I didn't find them all that useful anyways. Once you get the basics hop into a game with an easy ai and start messing around with stuff. Just make sure you get your free capital ship to fend off any would be pirates and try to outbid your opponent so you have enough time to experiment.

Edit: The tutorial also broke for me after the second planet when it told me about some construction thing. Can't remember what it was. I just assumed that was the end of the basics and moved on.

I noticed something, for me the resolution had no impact on whehter or not the tutorial would start. I could use default or 1480 it wouldn't work, until I reset the refresh rate back to the default 60hz (though how anyone can stand the flickering at 60hz is beyond me)

Now I can use the tutorial at any resolution as long as it's at 60hz. (Persoonally i'd take the smaller view over the flicker but cest la vie)

Maybe there is something too that?
