Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Hmm, it definitely works correctly in DA, but maybe it's broken in TA?

By the way, does anyone know what, if anything, the Artificial Slave Center does?

Snark, just tested in ToA V2.02........it boosted military production by 50%.

The particular game I used it in had various other odd bugs as well. This quad-core occasionally does some strange things when I play a game for hours on end. I'll try the ASC again in the next "evil" game.

Just wanted to poke my head in...let everyone know I'm still alive.  With spring here and our garden/yard to tend to, coupled with 50-60hr weeks until end of July, I haven't had much time to do squat.  I also blame PopCap for any attempts to do anything game related on my PC at home when I have time...between Peggle and Plants vs Zombies, galciv2 can't get an word in edgewise.

I've been kinda away too. Not here nearly as much as I was.

BTW... does the Artificial Slave Center work for just the planet its on or for your whole empire. You'd think I'd know this by now.

It works for your whole empire.  A pretty nice building, especially if you go all factories.

Welcome back, CatPharaoh.  Keep in touch.  I know depression is difficult to understand unless you've experienced it, but I try to empathize as much as I can.  If you need an ear, I have one on each side of my head.   |-)

Well spotted, Ancient eygpt was the idea behind my custom race, Cats of anku. Cats are aliens people! They invaded earth and where over thrown many thousands of years ago! (only kidding ofcourse)

Today we honor our newst Hero (Senator), Bentley!  May the Fanged God always grant you victory over the enemies of the Empire!   :hot:

Nice new handle CatPharaoh....the Egyptians had it right. ;)  Like Jack, I also still have nightmares about high-school AND college.   Usually its something along the lines of its late in the semester and I havent ever been to class or never did any of the work, or something like that.  I dont have the cliche, "being nude in class" dreams though, hehe.

Good to see you Loup, and what's up Motti? :)

It's usually pretty lively both here and at our forums at the Core.

Hm, all these still on-going discussions make me want to play the game again. Unfortunately one of those pesky HP driver updates is giving me trouble: even after a complete re-install of GalCiv II, I get garbled graphics and a crash followed by a blue screen after a few minutes of gameplay. Even after toggling some graphics settings.

Loupdinour: best of luck with those tough working weeks, I hope it's for a good cause (of course "good cause" also includes your bank account at the end of the month). If it's any consolation, 50-60 hours working weeks have been my average in the past 4 years so you're not the only one who has to cope ;)

Is culture flipping planets viable on suicidal?

Not only is it viable, it is an excellent way to destroy the AIs without a protracted and costly war on multiple fronts.

That sucks...hope you can get it fixed soon.

Question on Swindle games: When do you start buying planets?

Because it's damn funny to buy planets immediately after they are colonized; with super diplo few planets have been colonized more than 4 turns before I've bought them from whoever colonized them. On suicidal only a couple civs have more than 5-6 planets that were colonized and grew before I made contact. Most have 4 or fewer.

As you may guess, having that many newly colonized planets really screws your economy, but it can be compensated by the AI civs having plenty of cash they can't spend on their new colonies. Buy all planets, cash, and tech with influence and you're golden. I've actually traded so much in one turn I RAN OUT of influence points!

The biggest problem with this approach is that the AIs never get high enough in their tech trees to get techs worth buying/stealing. I'd love to get killzone, healing pools, or any of the Terran morale techs for the passives/trade goods.

In case this is news to anyone, I've also confirmed AIs don't get ethics events. None of them have Xeno Ethics researched, and I have yet to find a single one that had an ethics-event bonus on it (out of 350 or so planets purchased).
