Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Guess you are a Magic fan, mADDYman?  I played obsessively for a few years back in the 90's.  We even used to play for ante back then. ;)

When yer all through with yer morning naps in the ol' sunspot, waddle on over to the War Council for the morning Kitty Snack. I'm not quite sure what it is, since it got run over by several cars, but it is made of meat and smells pretty good!

Thanks Snark! :D  Hopefully they'll fix the MV soon.

I think the MV will be back up within a couple days.  It definitely should have been fixed by now, but they've unfortunately been working on other stuff.  Get on it Stardock!

To be honest KP, I don't think SD is gonna fix it. They neverfixed the Libary which broke down a few months ago IIRC so what makes you think they're gonna fix it?

The library seems to be working fine for me.  I just downloaded the Kzinti file again.  Is it having some sort of other problems?

making a black lotus and mox jewels, that's worse. i mean, sure that cattank is invincible, but it has a 27 mana casting cost. most decks aren't even capable of producing that much mana in a single turn, even if every mana card has been drawn and played.

yeah... i was a M:TG tourney judge for a little bit. it's been more than a while, but i still remember my sh*t.

Back when I first started playing, I lost an alpha black lotus in ante. 8C   That was before it was really worth any money....doh!

heh ouch, that had to hurt in hindsight.

i didn't start playing the game until the revised edition/fallen empires expansion. the cost of those alpha rares by then made it easy to agree that they were over-powered. i rarely entered tourneys that allowed them, perhaps as much because i couldn't afford them as because of how over-powered they were. brother and best friend at one point agreed to allow each other to use fake versions of those cards even though we'd never have originals (with the one-per-deck "restriction" common to some tourney rule sets), but ultimately we decided they weren't very much fun. the lotus and all five mox gems were so powerful that they were indespensible in any deck, and drawing them in your openning hand or first few turns could often make or break a game.

actually my favorite way of playing was sealed deck games, or similar variations based on constructing decks from a limited or random pool of cards. my friends and i came up with a number of variations on that, though we rarely if ever played for ante. i guess at that age, it's hard to take on an "easy come, easy go" mentality with what little property you could afford on a pre-teen's allowance. second to that, i enjoyed decks based on more elaborate strategies. they weren't always as competative, but they were tons of fun to play. i had a red/green/white deck centered around preventing the opponent access to land that was fun, and a green/black deck that was heavy sacrifices.

Heaps of stuff has been fixed. Library works fine for me.

You need some hope, here have some of mine:

Proof the metaverse Lives. Everyday we see it in a new way and as it grows more extrodinary things will be seen. New possibility opens up and for now the Metaverse rests at it's peak.

The upload mechanism from what I have seen/read has been broken since January. January 12 is the last uploads, so I guess sometime near/after that. I imagine the meta will be fixed by at least Wednesday of next week. A lot of the anger and justifiably so I think is why the meta would have anything to do with Demigod servers. Then to not be able to spare one person to fix it with an excuse of them being busy on a game that they aren't even supposed to be developer of. Demigod is GPGs job.

Oops. Was supposed to just be informing of the library issue and kinda turned into rant ;) . Anyways I'm modding it nowadays, so ya'll have fun in the meta(when it's working ;P )

@Dys:  The other time I lost big in ante was when my friend Brian and I played all night, and I lost 8 dual-lands.  I eventually got them back because he was always having money problems and had to sell some cards a few times.    I also didnt mind too much because I wasnt losing them to a complete stranger.  That was the semester we called the Magic Semester (only Brian was in school at that point), because that was pretty much all we did, and he ended up failing out.XD   He's got a Master's now, so no major harm done.  Ah, the good ole days...

@mADDYman & DA:  I'm sure the MV will be fixed at some point soon, and I'm looking forward to another million-plus giga-abundant! :D

those dual lands were awesome; i still think it's a shame they were discontinued from the core set by the revised (or was it 4th?) edition. they introduced a much weaker set of 5 dual lands (only "allied" colors) in Ice Age, but they had some rather disappointing stipulation to their use: i can't remember what for certain, but i want to say they either converted colorless mana to colored mana, or drained your health, or didn't untap normally. it was something that really restricted their usefulness. i myself much preferred Birds of Paradise; they made green able to work well with just about any other color, though i never did see a very strong green/blue deck.

i used to go to wholesale collectors conventions every month or so, after i'd saved up some money, and buy a box of expansion packs for about $30 if memeory serves - it was about half the price of buying them retail at a comic book or other collectiables store. i had a fairly impressive collection of rares from the Ice Age set. i also ended up playing Rage, based on the White Wolf universe's werewolf lore. it was a much faster paced game, but IMO much les robust with regard to strategy.

We can only hope it will be fixed. I don't think they'll let it die. The galciv 1 meta is still working.

Ah! whoa hoe! My castle squires tell me of a message brought from afar. Inviting leader of the knights (who say NI!) to the land of the kzinti? Explain kindom of kats! on what grounds might I be so inclined to join you in conquest of the known universe?

Hey ShadowWarrior!  That missive was sent before I realized you had formed your own mighty empire.  What we have to offer is your enemies on a platter (literally...yumm!), and a shiny medal to attach to your armor.  We have no shrubberies, because for they are for grass-eaters. ;)

I just hope they're prepared for the surge of game submissions. I think the Empire should award some sort of special recognition to the first Kzinti player to get a game posted.

Great idea!  Hehe, I was planning on some ZYWs, so it might be me.  Well actually, first order of business will be to start a bunch of games that I can save and have to play later if the MV goes down again.
