Will there be a Theocratic tech tree?

I'm hoping that one of the races will have a religion-based flavor, since my custom race is a theocracy. The Altarians are apparently "very spiritual" which gets my hopes up, and the devlogs mentioned a temple imporvement.

Does anyone else wonder what a temple improvement might do?

The Krynn are supposed to be very focussed towards "The Jihad", so that may be what you're looking for.

Or maybe temples are unique buildings depending on ethical alignment. Good could use a boost or two.

i haven't played too deeply into TA yet. i decided to prioritize other things first (including my MVL game), partly because i wanted to wait until a few more races were available.

however, from what i understand, race-specific techs and ethical alignment techs aren't mutually exclusive. in other words, each race could be made vastly different in its ethical alignment.

for example, the altarians as a good race might be very 'spritual' by having a great deal of introspection and self-reflection (and whatever game benefits you could associate with this--higher morale, perhaps a meditative martial art could give them a soldiering bonus, etc.).

if something were to force the arceans to be good, by contrast their ethical abilities might be focused on protecting the weak and engaging in glorious battle. so maybe extra military SB modules and a general military focus... the Terrans might end up televangelists and get big influence bonuses.

personally if the base game doesn't take it to this level, i probably will via mods.

I've already looked at some of the xml code already. Each race apparently gets their own file for tech trees.

It looks like the different races can import techs from the "default" tech tree. You can even rename the techs and description in the process, or even edit other details such as prerequisites. Here, you can even add in race specific techs.

Look for your self:*
C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\English\TechTrees

*I'm assuming you installed in the default path.
