Game info is absolutely insufficient! :(

Hi! The info on the game site is absolutely insufficient for me! There are all sorts of blablabla and stuff like "it's great!" and "it's fantastic!"... BUT I CAN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND, WILL IT BE REALTIME OR TURN-BASED?! In some announcements Stardock called it 'RT4X', but what does this stand for? Is it 'Rostbeef Tales of Four X' or something? :/

RT4X stands for Real Time 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate) so it is in REAL TIME, the left banner on the main page actually says Epic Real Time Strategy   .

Welcome

Have you even read the Official FAQ? it says:

Q. What exactly do you mean by the phrase "real time space strategy"?
A. This means that Sins of a Solar Empire is primarily a real-time strategy game (RTS) but, incorporates some of the best features of space strategy games (4X). One could almost say it's an "RT4X" game.

Real-time refers to the continuity of play. Most space strategy games are at least partially turn based which means each player must wait for the other players to complete their turns before the game can continue. Sins of a Solar Empire is played entirely in real time, meaning players compete simultaneously and are never waiting.

Take homeworld, slow it down, then add Galactic Civilizations 2. Blend for 3 minutes on medium. Pre-heat oven for 400 and bake for 2 - 3 years. Be sure to let it cool for a few minutes before you eat it.

At least thats my take on it

Pre-order the game and on Tuesday you can play the first beta. Should give you enough information.

and this interview covers pretty much of what you will gain in the game:

Dont forget to add in a bit of SC.

How could I forget! Add 2 tbsp of SC before the blending process, other wise the game won't rise.

Try actually reading whats on the site to start with... then maybe even the FAQ. All your questions are answered on the site/FAQ. If that fails try reading the FAQ the forum peeps are making.

hey, even we forumites believe that game info is insufficient.
everything the Devs have said is very vague, nothing specific.
(excluding their rare forum posts)

It is vague. I still have doubts over this game. One expectation has already been failed or whatever...or like...made me upset when I saw how star systems are set up.

But still on course to actually try it out.

Whats wrong with the star systems?
to me it looks fine, or is better saying GREAT?

They look like perfectly natural star systems to moi.

The star systems are a HUGE jump over the crappy systems of EAW and SOTS...

The fully zoomed out system is what looks sorta "icky" but I am not sure how to better represent a system than to just have it look as it is.

This level of zoom and anything before it is fine IMHO...

Its when you zoom out to this level (I am guessing its the last level of zoom), then it doesn't look right at least to me...

Whoa , me and Multianna just posted the same pictures, lol...... My cut and paste skillz are not as fast
Reply #21 Top
The full zoom makes it look more like a galaxy.

Frankly I doubt that many planets coud be in a solar system. Still I like the fact that its like that.

Remember those zoomed out pics are iconic the distance between those planets is tremendous. So the full zoomed out pic is probably the entire map.

wow your my twin/clone on the other side of the planet? well you have to be handsome then LMAO

well if its the discussion about it looks, then i agree about the total zoomed out part. But theres still over a half a year of production time left, so i guess they will make it look better. But HOW i dont know
Reply #23 Top
Again, its iconinc.

Thats not how the planets and stars really look like.

Maybe it would be better if they weren't gray dots... Or does that mean they just weren't explored yet?

im very sure it means they havent been explored.
But if not grey, then how should they be colored?
