Any language packs?

I´ve got a standart copy of the game, yet I´ve heard that there is some copies that have diferent languages to them. I´ve seen that there is even a russian version of the game.

Considering all the text in the game, it would be great to get a pack to my own language. Anyone knows if they are avaiable, or they are hardcoded into the entire game, and you cant change it?

There is a language key in the registry--I believe you should just need to change it, then reinstall via SDC. Which language are you looking to get?

Spanish or portuguese.

Where do I change it? Inside the game, or outside it? In the instalation I found no options.

Try saving the spanish file here to your computer, then double click it and agree to merge the file. Then reinstall via SDC and it *should* download the Spanish files (I think--if that doesn't work I'll have to check with the devs tomorrow).

I had a similar problem because I'm an English speaker but bought the game in Germany (The space jargon's a little compicated, and this game's a little harder than playing Half Life 2 in German.) I just followed your advice and clicked "here" but I only got a text message that said this rather than an option to download anything:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2]
"Language"="English"

Safe to say you can change the language of the game manually in the Registry Editor. So I did that, and the game is running the English Language now. Also, you don't have to reinstall through Stardock Central which is good because I'm not sure how I would go about doing that anyway.

Thanks a lot for you help. I think it's really cool that Stardock employees are willing to help the customers this punctually even after they've bought the product.

Hello. I am interested in playing the game in Russian in order to practice my Russian. I am currently in Moscow and have been unable to find the game. Does anyone know the name of a store that sells the game here? Obviously this is a question directed at employees. Cheers.

I couldn't say offhand--that would be a question for the Russia distributor, though I'd have to check to see exactly who that was (I'm thinking Paradox, who did Europe, but maybe not).

You should be able to get the desired language off SDC by making the registry changes as above (but setting the key to Russian instead), then updating or reinstalling so it downloads the new files.

Paradox subcontracted Russian distribution to 1c. You might be able to find the info you seek on their site (my Russian's too rusty to make anything out myself!).
