Help with Ships

Trying to keep my system from crashing as much as possible and have read that deleting old ship designs can help.

Problem is how do you get access to your ship designs once you have deleted all your save games. Is there a file that you can delete or edit?

I use the galactopedia to see what designs I still have but am unable to delete them from there.

Ingame you can use the normal method of deleting old designs but that only works if you have gotten to the level where you can access them. If you dont have an endgame save where you can get access to them your screwed unless you play to that level again. Can be done but was hoping for a quicker solution.

I checked my folders to see if there was something obvious (files with my ship design names etc) but didnt see anything so assuming they are stored in some data file.

Is there a way of doing this or am I screwed unless I reinstall the game to get these old designs out?

The ship designs are saved in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships. There's also another ships folder under the Metaverse folder in My Games\GalCiv2 in case you have any meta-game designs to get rid of as well.

Here's a way to do it inside the game: Start a game using the "Battle of the Gods" scenario. This scenario starts you with all techs and enough money to buy the hyperion shrinker, so all your ships should be available to build. The scenario forces you to play as the humans, but you can switch their ship style to whatever you want.

Cool. Thanks for the directions. I was looking under my install directory not "My documents" folder.

Thats a good workaround for when your inthe game Nullspace.

Thank you both!
