AI so clever but so THICK!

ok....

So the AI can run an uber economy, creat ships faster than any human player....

Its smart, reads what you are doing and takes counter measures...

So why is it, when I'm kicking ten craps out of a race that has a so called uber military will it not talk peace...

Example, I'm drath, gone to war with dreg, I've just taken around 20 worlds, and no matter what they do, no matter what they send at me, I slaughter it.

why is it just because their military is ranked higher than mine, I bash ten colours of poo out of them and they wont accept peace.

Instead I get, your on the losing side, or grovel for peace...

why should I? I'm beating the heck out of them.

all the clever coding that went into the AI, and just because its so called ranked higher military, they tell me i'm losing. - You just lost 20 worlds dude, give up, take the peace treaty, dont make me wipe you out!!!

know what I mean?

Yes, it's based on the mil rating. Unless you prevent them from rebuilding their fleets after you blast them to bits, you're not going to change their mind any (or just build "booster" fleets yourself, since mil rating weighs ship quantity more than quality).

Actually, it's not a good idea to offer peace in situations like these. If you are ranked higher militarily and they have just pulled off a quick strike, what normally goes through your head would be, I'm going to take it back.

Further more, if they had just lost a significant part of their empire and STILL rank higher than you militarily, it could also mean that you also suffered a lot of losses from that strike/war. Offering peace in this instance and giving you time to rest and rebuild your fleet so that you can come back and crush them again is just a terrible strategy.

Just like you expect the AI will backstab you, the AI expects the same from you. It sure as heck doesn't think you're just being nice and peaceful after you have just comepletely slaughtered 20 worlds of it's populus.

Bah the AI just builds a boatload of junk military (and I used that term usely) ships.

" We shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France and on the seas and oceans; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be; we shall fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills. We shall never surrender and even if, which I do not for the moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, will carry on the struggle until in God's good time the New World with all its power and might, sets forth to the liberation and rescue of the Old. . ."

So maybe the AI is only as thick as Churchill was in 1940.

What the AI should do is give the farm away to get someone else to attack you...
Either that or surrender to the strongest race that hates you.

The AI should be better in determining "real" military strength, as well as capacity. I tend to do a lot of my shipbuilding after a war starts.

If the AI took 20 of your worlds, and you had 10 (or 5) left, would you surrender? I wouldn't. I'd fight to the bitter end, scrap all my buildings just before my planets are invaded, and give money and tech to everyone who might help.

During one game, the Arceans (who'd become the superpower while I trailed second) were slowly grinding me down. I was losing ships and worlds, and my best efforts only postponed my fate. Then, without warning, they started asking for peace (turns out two other races had decided to go to war with the titan).

My response? No way. Lord Vega will rebuild and swallow us all. Given his rate of expansion, it was either take him down now or die trying. Is it not reasonable the computer might see your faction in this manner?

Yes it is reasonable. If they actually did that!!! When they say you are losing even though you liberating 20 of their worlds, they are not talking about fighting to the last being. I'd buy your arguement if they did.

Thats what I mean, I think there should be a diffrent way of calculating military strength rather than just number of ships....

its like if I you had 5 tanks and the opponent had 1000 troops with swords, who would win?

Yeah, you tricked us by bombing Pearl Harbor and creating negative propaganda so that our sheeple would agree to enter the war. Nicely played on a bunch of idiot USA'ers huh?

The soldiers in the tanks better lock their access hatch. Recall where some guy stole an old tank and was driving over (crushing) everything in his path. The police could not stop him until he got suck on a concrete median, then they opened the unlocked hatch on top and shot him. What happens when the 5 tanks run out of shells, bullets, and fuel?

Come on people...so it wasn't the greatest analogy. You all know what he means!

And he's right. The calculation of military strength in the game is deeply flawed.
