FYI, the devs are aware of his plans and he has promised to assist them in stopping his style of high scoring once he has revealed it.

LOL It's only a 30 day experiment. Join and all will be revealed. Nothing even revolutionary or anything close to "cheating". I agree looking at his scores it seems impossible but apparently not. Now if he can coach me to those scores he's also a brilliant coach.

How the heck do u get a score of 371,000 in just 2 years on suicidal lvl? Something is broke somewhere...

Boy I sure cause trouble. I do not plan to stay at number one, I plan to use metaverses own scoring system against me to halve my score after I reach number one. I am not using cheats to achieve a score. One could argue my methods are exploitations of the AI algorithms, I would not completely disagree with that. Your attitude, and more importantly the one of your friend Syruss, makes me want to stay above him in rank just to upset him. I will not fall as low as him though and bother doing that.

Nothing is broke. This game is programmed well. Every single game there can be found a way to optimize playing if you really want to. These are called "cookie builds" or something of the sort, according to a friend of mine more experiented in strategy games.

Yes, something is "broke" if by broke you mean "Theres a way to optimise score for anyone with intelligence". He has been asked by Cari to exploit this and send his findings to Stardock, who will then find a way to stop them being exploitable. I remember when he said about discovering it, first thing he did was tell the devs.

Figure out what you're talking about before you make baseless accusations of people. And no, the metaverse wouldn't "die", his scores would just be wiped.

This is correct. I do plan on also figuring out actual cheats for the game with the help of my friend; however, this has not been done. I am currently playing the game with nothing but my brain. Whether I commit score suicide via metaverse halving, or my scores are completely whiped, you will soon have your precious spots back.

Stop whining, because unfunf is a better player than you. The methods he is using are legit, and if he wanted he could remain above you permanently. If it was me (being a person without much in the way of moral fibre) I would just stay there, one position above you all.

They are a very easy way to beat any game. They take no brains at all. I refuse to use algorithms as they take the fun out of experimenting with different strategies. This will put the final nail in the coffin of the allready dying Metaverse. If you haven't noticed, there are allready very few people posting to the metaverse. I do not understand why the new scoring system was implemented. Sure the Galciv1 scoring system wasn't perfect, but it kept people interested for years. I posted almost 200 games to the GC1 Metaverse. Technician posted well over a thousand. Many many people posted over a hundred games. The Galciv2 Metaverse is dying after only a few months. Marcathonas, you would not know this as you have only posted one game to the Metaverse. The more you play the game, the more you are penalized. After game 4 the total is divided by 2. After 16 games it is divided by 3. After 32 games it is divided by 4. Is this any way to encourage a player to play lots of games? This is my last post to this thread. I hope The Metaverse survives, but the more people support this exploitation of a game the sooner it will die. Oh and where did you get the info. that he was asked by Cari to do this test. No, it was asked in IRC. The conversation was something like;

"Cari_Elf, I think I've found some way to get high scores in the game using the algorithms and weaknesses in the AI"

"Hmm... if you could work on them and send them over to us that would be great"

I got the info from a first hand account, I was there on the IRC when she asked him to compile all the exploits he could find and send them over.

I don't want exploiters ruining this game, which is exactly the reason I'm glad unfunf is working on sending all the exploits he can find to Stardock, so they can have them "fixed"

Don't assume just because I dislike being able to use modded races purely to compete with others that I don't know how the metaverse works. Evidently I know it far better than you, if you are seriously worried about blatant exploits "killing" the metaverse.

I'm locking this before it gets out of hand. Rest assured that unfunf is cooperating with the devs to prevent future abuse of whatever system he is using (I have also seen him discussing it with Cari on IRC).

Don't insult my line of work. You can't teach a chimp to do advanced algorithms. They are not easy. Coming up with your own algorithms or applying ones to completely different areas then what they were intended for is quite challenging and took me a bit of thinking. You, my friend, are not capable of doing anything. Math is beyond you. I am not making an assumption. I can tell by your attitude.
