I have the older Radeon 9200 (256Mb) onboard graphic on my pc and it runs the game really well. That saying i am about to upgrade my pc to a new RADEON X700 256MB AGP card

As I said in my post in your other topic, make sure you have a PCI Express x16 slot on your motherboard as opposed to an AGP slot.

Except that card is regular PCI, not PCI Express. All boards have PCI slots.

If my eyes don't deceive me, that's actually a PCI card and not PCI express.

If that's the case, check to see if you have either a PCI Express or an AGP slot and look for either of those two other options. If you're stuck with the PCI, congratulations on being a survivor of a dying breed. You might want to try Newegg or Zipzoomfly, where you can get the same card significantly cheaper ... and also where you could purchase a cheap, new motherboard, as well .

i would say no. i'd buy a x700

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?keywords=x700&image1.x=0&image1.y=0

that's a page with a couple of x700's.$20 more expensive, but a better card. i'd go for the x700 as it won't go obsolete as quickly.

I don't think you should bother with a video card based on such old technology. That's a DirectX 8.1 video card. I'd bite the bullet and go for a more current low-end card. The Radeon x700 is definitely a much better choice. It does cost about $80 more, but in the long run you'll probably be more satisfied.

That is such a rip off I dont know where to begin. Obsolete junk, hows that? Not worth $50, much less $100.
Dont buy a card form bestbuy either. Go to newegg.com or zipzoomfly...

As said above, see if you need an AGP card or PCI express. There is no way your box is old enough not to have at least an agp slot... Then grab an Nvidia 6200, or 6600gt, or 7300gs, or an ati x1300 or x700...

cool ill post more on other stuff well my computer IS 6 years old.
6 years old and you meet the other minium specs? You must have bought a monster at the time.
Wow, 6 years old, just replace the whole thing. It's not even worth money upgrading that. These days for $300 - $400 you can get a decent "base" model from dell. Don't waste your money upgrading that one. If it really is 6 years old, you already need a new motherboard.

YAH lol it cost $2,000 back then for this computer and when I got win xp it fried my motherbored plus 3 other parts. How can installing software burn out your computer. Well Ill just buy a new computer then if it will cost so much to upgrade this one.

I would want more memory, but everthing else looks good (at least good enough for this game).

I'm not familiar with the Geoforce 6100 vid chip, so I don't know if it is Direct X 9 compliant or not.

I do know the minimum specs Stardock gives for system memory is 512 Mb, and the system you are looking at only has 256 Mb, and if I am reading it correctly, the 6100 is built in to the motherboard and shares memory with the rest of the system.

Though it looks like it can be upgraded, with a PCI slot and memory expansion, out of the box that machine looks inadequate for GalCiv II.

That computer should run the game fine, the memory can always be upgraded. That video chip is SM 3.0 compatible, it's just very much scaled down from the faster 6600's and 6800's.

If you buy a computer at Best Buy, you will get ripped off. I used to work there, the computers are way over-priced for what you get. Try and find a local computer store in your city/town. Prices are generally a lot lower, and the staff will be much more knowledgable.

Well that computer on the link is from bestbuy and thats where almost everyone I know get there pc but some get them from dell.

I'd still take a look at any local computer stores your town/city may have. You will almost always get a better deal, as well as better service.

I was quite pleased with the computer I got from best buy post rebate. Look for rebates there. Otherwise, yes they tend to over charge. If you want a cheap computer quick, look at Wal-Mart. I know they are the great Satan, but they do tend to have good cheap prices on computers. Just don't expect tech support there.

hmmmm ill see but I dont have alot of money so i was going to pay monthly on the bestbuy one.
