Noob Population Issues

Help me! I'm a noob!

Hello everyone. This is probably a real basic question but I'm having a real problem with it.
As the Terran Alliance (or United Star Systems in my game), I am having major problems with Earth. Now, several years into the game, Earth is on the verge of revolt at a staggeringly low 17% approval rating. All my other planets are in the 90 percentile. Apparently, reading into this more I realized Earth is at 22.2 billion people and they are very very very unhappy about their overpopulation issues. I figured "Hey maybe they aren't getting enough food" so I decided to put some farms in place of the entertainment centers on planet. Well, removing the fun for food didn't seem to work too well. I built a colony ship to try to drain some of the population, little did I realize colony ships don't contain many people to begin with, not to mention there are no other worlds to colonize so they just float above Earth with people in them (I'm sure thats worse than being on an overpopulated Earth). What are the recomendations of the pro galactic overlords of this forum?

You need to swap some of your farms for morale boosting buildings. Adding farms increases your max population, so you made the problem worse. The ratio is generally 1-2 morale buildings per farm.

Yeah, don't worry. Just kill some farms for morale buildings, instead of the other way around, and you'll be fine.

Also if you ever need to move people off a planet, you can build advanced Transports. You can fit Six Advanced Troop Modules on a large hull. With these you can drain a plaent of 21b with about 5 transports. And You can prity much conqure any world you need to.

TRY TO IMAGINE FITTING 22.2 BILLION PEOPLE ON EARTH. NOW THINK HOW HAPPY THEY WOULD BE. Then rent Soylent Green.

Because if you swap out a farm for an entertainment center, you'll find that all the "extra" people just... dissapear... in one turn. *Burp* oh excuse me.

Your solution was very logical, to provide them with more food.  But it backfired in this case, creating even more people to be even more unhappy.

Okey dokey, thanks guys. Got that one solved with your help. Just beat my first game on Gal Civ (For the record, even with 1 farm and 5 enterainment centers, Earth never got all that happy). Can't wait to try another one.

Well, because humans reproduce like sewer rats Earth is a very hard place to keep happy. Even with multimedia centers these people are hard to please.
