Invisible Planets, Ships, and Everything
Where did all the graphics go?

So I havn't played the game since last weekend, but when I booted it up this afternoon I discovered that all of the planets, ships, anamolies, etc were totally gone. They've been replaced by icons as if you were zoomed way out, but no matter how close you zoom or what angle you are viewing the map at, they stay invisible.
I did notice that while spinning and flicking the camera wildly, a planet or two would pop into existence for an instant (but would always vanish). I've tried updating my video drivers (latest BETA since I was already up to date) and rolling back my video drivers to two earlier versions. I tried the game with different map sizes, different numbers of aliens, different difficulties, different resolutions, toggling FSAA on and off, toggling various gfx options on and off in different combinations - nothing is working.
Someone please tell me what is going on and how do I fix it?
