Newbie with a few questions

Hi I love this game and offocially addicted to it. I read the manuel but the manuel is very skimpy and doesn't answer some questions I have about game play. I hope you guys can help a n00b out.

1. Can bases either mining or military be turned over by influence? For instance can influence bases steal mining bases away from your opponent?

2. How can one build a transport or colony ship from say an industrial planet and move it to a population planet with out taking away citizens from your industral planet it was built on? I want to build troop transport from my indi planet and move it to a more balanced planet or population planet so it can orbit and when it moves out from the population planet it takes troops from that planet only is this possible?

3. Can the same be done from freight ships? I want to build freight ships and move them to a economy planet so they can begind a route from my economy planet to a opponents world for trade. It seems if you want a planet of yours to trade the freight ship must be built on that planet am I correct?

4. Is there a limit to the number of trade routes you can have? It seems to me I can have as many trade routes as I would like the computer never stops me. Is the supposed trade limit for each planet or for your entire civilization? Say you are allowed 4 trade routes.. is that per planet or for your entire civilization?

I guess that's all for now. Im going to read up as much as I can on these forums, thanks guys

1) Starbases cannot be culture-flipped.

2) It will take as much as it can if you lauch by right clicking the drop-down icon, but if you go to the planet and double-click the ship in the orbit box, you can select how many troops to load. You can't set it to 0 AFAIK, but you can set it to just 1.

3) Far as I know, a freighter will only establish a trade route to its target from the planet it was built on (you can't reassign them to another planet).

4) The total number of outgoing trade routes for your civ (ones aliens start with you on their own don't count toward your limit) is limited by your level of Trade technology. You can see how many you're using/have available on the trade tab of the Domestic screen.

1. Nope. There are only a few ways to get another civ's starbases: as a gift, through diplomatic exchance, or through their surrender.

2. You can't launch empty transports or colony ships. What I do is just load it with the minimum allowable and send it off.

3. As far as I know, you can't.

4. There is a limit to the number that you can set up by yourself. Go into the Domestic Policy window and click on the Trade tab. It will indicate to you where your trade routes go and which slots are open. Additional Trade technologies will provide you with more routes. Also, the limit is for your entire civ, regardless of how many planets you have.
