WindowFX 3 beta: No Transitions / No Shadows / Only transparency as drag-effect

Nothing works!

I tried my best, but the new WindowFX seems unable to provide me with any transitions, shadows or drag-effects. The respective drop-down-lists are empty (!). Since this worked fine in WindowFX 2.* I guess it's a bug... Animations/Menu Animations/Taskbar Previews/Task Switching work fine, though.

However, I'm not quite sure what went wrong.
Might be the fact that I am running a German version of XP (32-bit), might be the fact that I updated from the previous version...

Anyone else with the same problems?

It sounds like some of the sub directories WFX needs are missing.  I would uninstall it & reinstall it.

Same problem - especially troubled by the inability to enable shadows, which is the coolest part of FX.

Complete uninstall and reinstll had no effect.

I have also experienced a few bugs w/ transitions, animations not showing and I have a good video card...

I don't have any problem with "transitions" or "shadows". But I have 3 issues (bugs) with this new Beta version:

1) Right-clicking on the icon in the SystemTray, it takes about 15 seconds for the WindowFX window to open.

2) I cannot enable the option for WindowFX to run on Startup in "System Settings".

3) Likewise, I cannot disable "Show the WindowFX icon in the system tray (reloading it will display this config dialog)" in "System Settings" either.

Running the latest WB beta version.

Also tried Uninstall and reinstall to no effect .. no transitions , shadows or dragging

Understand the shadows are disabled for some windowblinds skins .. but would quite like the others back

All the transitions are showing in the instal directory in the scripts folder

any help aprreciated

I´m having the same problems as MichaelBe. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling WinFX and Windowblinds with no positive effect. I also selected the classic windows skin (to rule out perpixel problems), uninstalled only windowblind, turn off addshadow utility, but nothing.

My configuration:

Pentium D 2,8GHz; 1 GB Ram; NVidia GeForce 6600 256 MB; 2 HD 100GB in RAID 0.

Same here. Unable to turn on shadows. Several other features don't work either. For dragging transparency I had to go to advanced and change some settings, and then I could turn it on in the main tab. But the same trick didn't work for transitions.

After uninstalling and reinstalling both WB5 and WinFX, it seems everything in my initial setup for WinFX is working correctly now. My only problem, and one which I had initially, was : right clicking on the WinFX system tray icon does NOT bring up the settings dialog. Nothing happens when I right click, so I cannot change any of my settings if I want or need to do so.
Anyone experiencing this?
Anything I can do to bring up my setting dialog?

They just released an updated version (2.89a) which in my case solved all the problems. It´s not perfect (my old transitions are not working right), but I think it solves most of the issues people were complaining about.

Slomo, right click menu is working for me, are you running the last version?

Thanks for the heads up on the update. Things are working!

Just downloaded the latest (2.89a(b).002). Right clicking on the tray icon still is not working. I guess I'm the only one who can't get to the options dialog.

@Wolfarelli X: Thanks for the notice on the update and for your reply.

To solve the problem...

Click Start -> Run -> regedt32.exe

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\WindowFX3\WindowFX.ini\INSTALLED]

If the "DIR" key points to something other than your installation folder for WinFX you must correct it.

By default the value should be:

DIR=C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowFX\

Then go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\WindowFX3\WindowFX.ini\GLOBAL]

Set the values of the following key equal to 1:

Shadows

Close the Registry Editor

Open WindowFX and you should now see the shadows options.

That's almost too techie for me.

Win FX transitions freezes my system up. I have to ctrl-alt-delete, remove program from running to regain control. I have a new XPS M170 with the bells and wistles...I shouldn't have any driver or hdw issues.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled as well.

please help!!

Having same issues. Transition is not working. Dropdown box does contain a list of them.. from the scripts folder. However none of the transitions are working. Animation is working though.
Shadows work depending on whether I check the 'use pixels on border.." in WB5

same prolem here, no transtions , stardock support say it is a beta so do not expect it to work!!, a new software should be better that an old one, the old winFx was perfect. I hope they fix it soon.
