Lawrence Taylor sat down with Mike Wallace of "60 Minutes" and told him and the world of his excesses in the National Football League. Lawrence Taylor, better known as LT, is considered one of the best football players of our generation, a defensive player who changed the way the game of pro football was played on the field. And, according to his book, he changed the way the game of pro football was play off the field

Thanks guys. I still haven't found it and it is beginning to sink in that it may be gone for good. Oh, Russell, that was funny. Thanks... :-) The search will continue, at least for now... Rob
Excuse the long pause since my last blog. Work has me at my wit's end. OK, on Sunday, I return from the Seattle Seahawks game, tired from a long drive and a little bit pissed off at my brother-in-law. He was being a little sensitive about his driving and I was just mentioning to him that cops love pulling over drivers who hit over 80 mph in the rain... nothing big. I walk into the house and my wife is on the couc
On Monday, the FCC now allows consumers to keep their old cell phone numbers between carriers, which is a very good idea for those who have had their phones/carriers a long time and want to switch without losing their numbers. But what am I going to do with my old phone now that I switch carriers, kept my same number and got an upgraded phone? Recycle it. So, I headed down to Staples, where I saw a sign asking
Random thoughts from an observer of all things and a participant in none. • There isn’t much good in popular music these days. I can sit and watch MTV, MTV2, VH1, Fuse, Saturday Night Live, and other music channels/shows and nothing grabs me in the boo-boo like Nirvana, Soundgarden, vintage Van Halen (before Sammy Hagar and whoever else Eddie has dragged in front of the mike), old Metallica, Red Hot Chili Pe
The holiday season is upon us and for most people, that means a few trips to relatives, friends and in-laws for Thanksgiving, Chanuka, Christmas, Kwanza, New Year's Eve and South Park reruns. What this also means is a highway full of people whose minds aren't on the road or on what they are doing. So, from someone who will be spending the next several weeks on the roads covering state playoff games and league bask

Spam sucks, but sometimes you get something that is just mind-blowingly horrible and funny that you have to share. This came to a friend of mine this afternoon. Story Idea: Holiday Ice Breakers Debra Fine, author The Fine Art of Small Talk, provides her top-ten ice breakers everyone can use to turn holiday get-togethers into opportunities for sharing, caring, and warmth: 1. "What is your connection to the host/hostess or organization?" 2. "Wha
Just a few weeks ago, me and my wife went to the movies. We haven't gone in quite a while and the experience was good. However, I have a question: Is it better to watch a movie in a theatre that is full or empty? We saw "Lost in Translation" with Bill Murray. I liked the movie a lot. It was a different take on unaquainted love from a different point of view. The theatre was completely empty, except for us. It was strange, but nice. No worries about other peo
If I happen to describe you in this, I'm sorry. Well, maybe not. Sports Parents who need to curl up and die: 1. Swim parents. I find that the more elitist the sport, the more money needed to engage in the sport, the more isolated the sport is to society and the more egotistical the participant, you'll find the worst parents. In swimming circles, the swim parent is the norm. To everyone else, this parent is the worst. "Why isn't my child in the paper?" "He's just as much as athlet
On the Associated Press/Reuters news wire, Veteran's Day, 2003: • Larry Flynt says he won't use nude (Jessica) Lynch photos... New York (AP) — Pornographer Larry Flynt says he bought nude photos of Pfc. Jessica Lynch to publish in Hustler magazine, but changed his mind because she's a "good kid" who became "a pawn for the government." Flynt told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he bought the photos last month from the men who purportedly participated in the amateur shoot wi
I like the flamingos idea, but the trick is finding them around here... But then, they're always home. The guy doesn't work. The noise complaint is a good idea as well, since they can be noisy at times. As for my safety, there are advantages to working for a newspaper... No one wants to piss me off in fear that I'd write about them in the paper. Also, the cops are listening to me (at least that is what I think they are doing) and the cops reporter is asking about my neighborhood to the c
All I have to say is: "Have fun storming the castle!!!" My favorite movies: (in no particular order) Caddyshack (Hey Whitey, where's your hat?), History of the World Part 1 (It's good to be the King!), Blazing Saddles (Excuse me while I whip this out...), Pulp Fiction (Royale with Cheese), Casablanca (Here's looking at you, kid), every Monty Python movie ever made (I object that you automatically treat me like an inferior...), Time Bandits (Oh no, I need fruit...), Animal House (Double-
I'm a new home owner. I moved into my new home with my new wife just about two months ago. Although there was a time crunch in getting the house, there's very little wrong with it, especially since it is 104 years old. It is a little hard to keep warm on these cold days but we're working on it. Across the street from my front door is a two-car garage, which is old and in bad shape. The house that it is a part of, but not attached to, is a very nice old-style home with a very nice grandmother
Sitting in the newsroom tonight, the entire place is buzzing with reporters talking to politicians winning and losing their elected posts in Western Washington. But after looking at the totals, not too many people out here performed their civic duty and voted — less than 25 percent, most absentee. In Washington state, there wasn't any hot button issue to draw interest and locally, the school board is always a hot area of debate and bickering. But what about you, out there in cyberspa
Whiz, You brought up a really good point. In the beginning, Metallica said that they wouldn't be one of those bands who stuck around, making crappy music that no one likes. They'd die first. They swore that they'd never do that, even doing a parody of themselves as lounge singers inside Garage, Inc. Well, someone likes St. Anger or they're doing a wonderful impression of living zombies. RB 8)
Sitting at home, I turned on MTV2 and watched a half hour of Metallica’s Greatest Hits. From what I saw, most of it was from Load, Reload, S&M (with the San Francisco Orchestra) and from St. Anger, their newest album. It wasn’t bad. It has been a while since I’ve put a Metallica CD in my player, but I also felt funny. Is it me or has Metallica (to borrow a Seinfeld term) jumped the shark? When I was in middle school and in the beginning of high school in the mid-1980s, Metallica
Tonight, the NBA began its 2003-04 season... with grade-A, 100 score by Whine Magazine, vintage whining from the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. On ESPN, Bryant — after head coach Phil "Guru" Jackson told the team to shut up to the press about this — called O'Neal "childlike," "unprofessional," "selfish," "fat" and "jealous." He also took the 7-foot-2 bohemeth to task for overplaying his sore toe and coming into training camp overweight and out of shape. Ah man... P
For the past several weeks, I've enjoyed The Joe Schmo Show on Spike TV. The premise: Take an ordinary guy and make him the only real aspect of the show. Everything else, from the fellow contestants (actors) to the smarmy host (actor) to the games (rigged) to the elimination ceremony (scripted) was fake. At the end, have one of the actors win, then turn around and reveal to Joe — in this case Matt Kennedy Gould, of Pittsburgh, PA — that everyone are actors and that the whole thing was fa
You have no idea what you are getting into.... :-) Isn't it wonderful. Welcome to the neighborhood. Everyone is welcome and more people are reading this that you imagine. Just google your site in a few days... Keep it real in the hizzel fa schizzel...
A view from the sports couch (Mon., Oct. 27) The Los Angeles Lakers are feuding. With new superstars Karl Malone and Gary Payton on the roster, the Lakers are the odds-on favorite to win the NBA title. But the pissing match between current Laker stars Shaq O’Neal and Kobe Bryant is reaching a new level. Both Shaq and Kobe have been fighting in the background over the past few seasons over whose team it is: Shaq’s or Kobe’s. Both players have enormous egos and both believe they
But there's a name for it? Is there a need for a name for this? That's what I'm puzzled about. Fashion and style come and go, but to put a name on it like that gives it another meaning entirely. To put anything with "sexual" in front of it as a term conjures up other images, some that other people are uncomfortable with. This is a very puritan-esque society, one that is uncomfortable with sex. Now this fashion statement is a brand, one that may be harmful to some who encounter those who
Seattle at Cincinnati (This is an occasional blog entry on the NFL, usually Seattle Seahawks games. Most of these will be from my couch, drive by drive observations. This is a good exercise for me in following a game from beginning to end while analyzing what’s going on on the fly. It’s like exercise for the sports brain, really.) Seattle’s offense, engineered by QB Matt Hasselbeck and RB Shaun Alexander, takes on Cincinnati’s defense, led by head coach/defensive guru Marvin Lewi
An addiction is an addiction. Period. Regardless of what -- drugs, food, alcohol... Rush is high-profile now because he was fired from ESPN for his "the press want to see black quarterbacks succeed" comments and the drug problem came on the heels of that. Bad frickin' timing, I say. Also, if Rush didn't say anything on his show, took a leave of absence and came back a new man, would this be the main topic of conversation??? No. There would be rumors, but hell, drug rumors drive the music
It’s all over the place. You know the word — metrosexual. The first time I heard the term was listening to ESPN Radio recently, when a morning radio host (Mike Golic) accused his co-host (Mike Greenberg) of being one. “You use product in your hair and you exfoliate your skin before you moisturize... What the hell is exfoliate???,” Golic, a former NFL lineman, said to Greenberg. “Well, it’s when...,” Greenberg said, who was then interrupted by Golic’s laughter and derision. OK, I
