Hey, I bought this a while ago and played a little bit back in .951 or around then... One thing I didnt have back when I played it the first time was slow frame rates and stuttery zoom/scroll. Its not unplayable , but it is jarring and very irritating. I dont have a weak machine, im running 2x6970 and a i5 3570k at 4.5ghz.. anyone else having similar issues or is this known? Is there going to be an optimisation pass over this before release?

+1 Steam. I get annoyed when games AREN'T steam nowadays. Its just the easiest way to shop for games and it keeps everything nice and updated patch wise. I have alot of games and it would be impossible to track the patch status without steam.
Agree with all this except you made one mistake. Hex grid should have a plus next to it
+1 ... Hex grids make sense which is why so many games use them. One thing I dont like about FE is the fact that the tactical battles are essentially run on hex grids (ie can attack diagonally) but utilise squares. A minor mistake but I dont see why anyone would be against hexes - most wargames have this correct IMO.&nb
Ok I kept playing despite an easy early war vs the AI... I ended up losing because of a Death Demon army which I assume was a wandering army took my capital. Nice :) I like roguelike elements to any game and I firmly believe that 'losing is fun'. I made the decision to send my armies far and wide and left no defence at home and the game punished me for it.. I think I am now addicted. I also noted that scorewise I was well behind the other AI factions so perhaps
Hey I just pre-ordered and im glad I did. GALCIV 2 is probably up their with Civ 4 as my favourite game ever so stardocks a good bet in my books. Im not a strategy newb at all but I feel that with my first play through on challenging I shouldn't have been able to stomp a single AI in a very quick series of engagements. I was playing as Magnar and the supposedly challenging AI was Resolyn. The war played out as follows:<b
Man im just like that too in real life... know exactly how you feel, tho i can control it as soon as i have a few drinks i seem to alienate everybody i know.. lost more than a few friends that way and although i probably should stop drinking its an insideous thing, i dont feel comfortable around people (unless i drink)much like you've described (minus the drinking thing)... dont worry about it too much buddy... keep ya head up~!
Got a "ok" rank i guess in the 100's and saw it dropping the last couple of days.. sweet will play a conquest game see if i can get it back to where it was until i have more time... Submit a higher than average score for me 16000 or something and wtf? my score drops a full 20k??!?!?! enough to easily drop me to 150 something... anyone can explain ???
I no longer get ethical dillemmas or random events in metaverse games... whats happened is this intentional? Is there a detailed list i can look at to see exactly what is a bug and whats intended? I also get the "Custom Race" appearing in my games... which is a bit annoying .
Im used to the planetary invasions thing now... yeah i hated it too at first but now i kinda like it... makes long drawn out wars with heaps of conquest unsustainable. i would vote against changing it. I LOVE the idea of terrain... so what space is big ect terrain in space (similar to the purple stuff in MOO that halved shields) and im sure if anyone can get an ai to do it stardock can. will give a new element to space combat i feel. i think its more a feature for gal civ 3 imho tho..
Lol, 2 close games resulting in my defeat on tough AI, well done Brad In 1.11 i was winning tough games 90 percent of the time now its back to trying to beat a non cheating ai again hehe
I reckon the Korx and the Altarians... The Korx are a hopeless race.. they have no flavour at all in addition to looking stupid.. i mean a race of ultimate mecenaries!?!? seriously. I think the Altarians will go because they hit closest to home with the player without eliminating the Terran's (id be VERY unplesantly surprised to see the Terrans go)
Hey darkstar im in the top 3 now in the empire (hehe thanks recalc can you senetor me? Or is this empire defunt now?
After a 1 week break playing oblivion (7.5 out of 10 all graphics toned down version of morrowind.) im back into Gal Civ with a vengance, which is testimony as to just what a great game it is (i am VERY fickle with my gaming) Not a major issue but it does i feel take some "flavour" out of the game when playing metaverse (and score counts) because atm i can see absolutely no reason to choose either of the other two alignments. the response "turn the difficulty up" does not apply here b
Neutral is too good in my own opinion and i find myself going that route the majority of the time... good / evil are choices i MIGHT make depending on the situation... if im small compared to the other civs and have some big good neighbours i will probably go Good but if i get off to a good early start i do enjoy "roleplaying" an evil empire.. can make the early conquest/expansion easier and all the techs the neutrals are grabbing are soon mine anyways when i invade. Personally i feel
I agree with the OP neutrality research centres are WAY too powerful. dunno about the alternative tho. i think you should recieve a massive diplomatic penalty as neutral, with no bonus with other neutral civs. I think neutral civs should be regarded by other civs as an "easy" acquisition ie easy to subvert to their culture... cultural penalty maybe for having no strong beliefs either way? One day id love to see a post that Marcathonas doesnt defend the game or claim "that its perfect
Altarians really get my goat , slimy little goody two shoes who are ALWAYS in the top 3 in my games. Ive had my arse handed to me at higher levels by them on too many occasions. Thus i usually mark them for extermination early on. They have no respect for neutrality, however i find that as a good race they can make a formidable and loyal ally. Second to them i would say the Arcanites because in my early days of playing learning the game ect they always managed to get influe
Sure it makes sense to have an Econ planet but how are you going to pump colony ships out quickly if your first planet is a eco planet? the 5k you start with should be enough to get yourself through the initial colony rush without worrying too much, which is why usually my second/third planet is my primary eco planet... Maybe your right, i was just offering a suggestion anyways good thing about strategy games is that often there are more than one strategy... I will say this
Yeah man i was getting whipped at first when i played on challanging so i know how it feels The thing that turned the tide for me was definitely getting military out quickly... even if it was just a couple of defenders per planet... The way the AI caculates military strength (1.0x and 1.1) you can easily be top of the military graph in the early game just by turning out a speed 1 att
You guys fixed everything I felt needed to be fixed in the 1.11 update... excellent work youve made a fantastic game even better!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks heaps again!
Like the title says really Thanks
Seems to me that continueous play wins over skillful play everytime on metaverse..... More submissions = higher rank
erdrick . ffs if only one person had one idea that idea would never get done all i was doing was airing my opinon i wasnt aware that everyone else was equally frustrated at this issue as i was.
because its really frustrating to have to upgrade 50 plus planets at various stages of development to neutrality research centres. not a major game destroyer. but VERY frustrating and easily fixed. stardock have done an EXCELLENT job thus far i reckon this problem is an easy fix but nessesary for sure.
I dont care who argues. It may be easy to fix manually yet a simple patch adjustment to neutral races to make them auto update to neutral research bases will definetly add some polish. Any argument is fanboy nonsense.
