First calm down and play at a lower level. I agree that the computer seems too militaristic. Sure that might be ok for the evil races, but the good races commiting genocide as soon as they see their friendly neighbor is weak seems a bit much. If the computer is that far ahead of you in tech, you need to expand faster at the beginning and start trading tech earlier. There's a cheat that you can use to get hotseat multiplayer capability. You should have built some moral boosting, and economic building before you ran out of cash. Sell some tech for the cash you need if you can. Other than that it's increasing taxes, or waiting for population growth. Then build some economy producing buildings. Morale boosting building let you increase taxes, but you need them on all planets if you do that since increasing taxes affects everyone. Good luck, and hope your survey ship finds some cash anomalies.

I agree, MoAus, maybe your not getting enough colonies. The colony rush is the most important part of the game. I'm currently playing against 9 enemies, huge galaxy, intelligent, have 0% in research and am rated 3rd in technology. I have good diplomacy and a good economy so I don't even need to build labs. It's all factories, and economy for me this game. An all factory world that focuses on research can put out decent research numbers, and still have massive production. It gets me the weapon techs I need, and I can way outproduce anyone else in galaxy. <br
