Ok, Started a new character... played for a couple hundred turns. Same issue. I love the game, but I'm going to be a little cheesed if I can't even finish it. Can we get any response from the devs or help desk or anything about submitting a bug report, or info on an update or a quick fix or something? Edit: Ok, just to update: I installed the Day 0 update and it's still mucking up. Seriously Stardock, WTF?
Krantos
Oh, good god. This is ridiculous. Listen: Stardock considers the game finished. Just because it doesn't have what you wanted does not mean the game is unfinished. Jesus, I can't believe I even have to say that. You're not happy with the product. The CEO himself offers you a full refund. But instead of being satisfied with an offer that NO OTHER DEV would ever make, you continue to whine. WHY? Because you don't think the game is finished? The only real complaint
Well, personal choice I suppose. I love the game. And, honestly, I don't really look for immersion in 4x games. That's what 1st and 3rd person games are for IMO.
Ok, So I'm running Elem on my Vista Machine since pre-orders were released. Haven't had any trouble until the last hour or so. Now the game keeps crashing to desktop. Can anyone tell me how to submit a bug report? Or, if anyone else is having (had) the same problem, can you give some advice?
Heh, I doubt it will be as bad as GalCiv 2 when I first got it. I used, (thank god I can say 'used') to run it on a single core system running Vista with half a gig of Ram. It used to take literally 15-20 mins for a game to load, up to half an hour for late game saves. I'm still running the single core, but Ive more than quadrupled my RAM. Sooo nice. Besides, if E:WoM can run on "a crappy netbook" I think it will be bearable on my machine.
they appear to be posting an answer to a question I never asked. It's not so much that as that we're discussing it amongst oursleves. Your question was already answered but in doing so they attached their own opinion and that's what's being dicussed. So while you did initiate the exchange you did not direct it's flow.
I think you misunderstood, though that will be helpful once I actually reach theposting point. WHat I need to know is how to actually take the in game screenshots. I know this is kind of a newbie question but that's the problem I'm at right now. Thanks again.
Ok, I'm interested in turning the game I just started eventually into a Game example to be posted here, but I can't figure out how to take a screenshot. I don't want to make an example w/o this feature as it adds depth, interest, and is generally a cool way to show off ships designs. If someone could solve this dilema for me I would much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Thank you to some one who understands what I was trying to say, and said it much better than I did. If the randomness, and lack of control of battles bothers your then you need to expand your gaming to include games that do allow you to do that. Thank you Facelessclock for saying what i could not quite get out.
in regards to the complaint as to Ground invasion graphics, it must be noted that this was a feature that the designers really did not seem to care about. The entire set up of the game seems to suggest that they were primarily concerned with the evolution of space combat and viewed the invasions as necessary but not worth any frills. E.g. there is no way to improve things like ground weapons, vehicles, etc. To voice in on the debate over luck in the game: I cast my vote in with Quixen.
You post on Galciv2.com when you're supposed to be studying for your Latin II Final exam. "Sed magister meus, ego nôn lûsî! Labôrî!!! Verô!"
Ahhhh......... The old debate that inevitably pops up when people start to realize that not all is what it seems in the time honored perspective of good and evil. Truth: Don't know any. But anyway, if you look back in history you see countless cases of this very phenomenon. WWII: The rest of the world disagrees with what the Nazi's did right? Well, they thought they were doing
You get frustrated talking to people because there is no relations slider to tell you how much they like you. You use your alarm clock to tell you when you should go to bed. Your wife has left you, the kids moved out, the heat is turned off, but you don't notice until you finally see that "Victory!" screen...Then start another game to help you cope. You become confused when you watch the news because the anchors are all living humans. You know where Dr
You're already starting a Group with the purpose of advocating not building the Stargate when the Arceans Send the plans.. You reply to concerns about the environment by saying "it's not a big deal, Earth is only class 10." You hear someone talking in a foreign language and you reach for your universal translator. You try convincing the autoshop to upgrade your car with warp drive.
You see an interesting shape and it makes you think about where you would put plasmas on it. You sleep with Sun-Tzu's Art of War beneath your pillow.
OK, but when does it the option show up? Is it in the Trade menu? How do get a race to like you. I tried showering them with gifts but it didn't help.
Ok I've played through the demo I don't know how many times, But I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO INITIATE AN ALLIANCE??????????? I know you have to research it first. Ok easy, it's pretty cheap. And I know that the other guy needs it too. easy too, has the AI ever rejected a gift? But then I don't know where to go from there. the Option never shows up in the Trade menu, and this is after a race had almost a completely friendly attitude to me.
If only! I was playing on normal in the Demo, and was focusing on research. Then the Drengin decided to declare war. I had no Ships and not military starbases so I had to quick build. Luckily I had better techs so I was able to punch out a fleet of three ships to tackle theirs (which arrived 2 turns after they declared war) that outmatched their weaponry 3:1. They lost that battle, but sent transports in anyway, so I surrounded my home planet with ships and awaited the next attack.... oops.
More efficient at firing = more damage. *blinks* Isn't that what they do? laser damage 1, plasma damage 2, etc.
Wow do those screen shots remind anyone of another Good game? cough *this one* cough Or do all space empire games have similiar UI's ANyway just glancing it looks like Gal Civ 2 is already ahead of them, and quite frankly this game puts the bar pretty dang high for just about anything.
As far as planet ownership colors... It does have that... at least the Demo does. On the mini map the Altarian planets are blue, the Arceans yellow and the Drengin red... Is this different in the original release?
Well I think that forcing you to defend your own is the whole point. In the later game Starbases are weak, but they are still very useful, and sometimes become neccessary to ones economy. Thus it becomes neccessary to defend them. You can't just stand by and let your resources defend themselves. It goes into considering how to form your line, so to speak. You aren't going to build that uber strong starbase in your neighbor's backyard if you know that it can easily be blow to dust. <br
Yeah, I get that a lot even in the Demo. Big man in the Galaxy thinks they can tackle you bcuz you haven't got any military. Little do they notice you have the BEST frickin' production in the galaxy and you're researching like crazy. I hope that this is something that they fix in later versions, bcuz, quite frankly it annoys me how they all consider you to be Uber weak and then a month later they're all grovelling in the dirt.
You first need to research Planetary invasion, then the transport class will become available, or if you're like me you can choose to build your own better transport in the ship builder adding on a troop module.
the ai only gets a couple of scouts built Increase the difficulty. That's all they did with me too on begginer but then once you up the odds to normal they'll actually start playing a lot smarter. Here's a couple things that the AI does well: Trading (Begginner you can get weapon te
