I have played the beta widescreen, 1900 x 1200. There is support for a wide range of resolutions.

GalCiv 2 is the only game that I have to date that uses my laptop's full resolution...

Sweet! I got a widescreen last year, and it has been painfully hard to find games that will work with it correctly.

I've read that 1024x768 is the minimum required.

Does this also apply to windowed mode? Therein, I can't run it at, say, 1600x740 windowed?

I do that with most of the games I have that actually support windowed mode so I can leave nvmonitor, nvmixer, task manager and mIRC at the bottom.

Now your just showing off with the portrait resolution
I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
Too bad for the g-friend though.

Even in windowed mode 1024 wide and 768 tall are the minium values we suggest, but even at smalle rez you'll be able to play, the UI will just start to stretch funny.

Hmm, how about getting a video projector and some popcorn...? Oh wait, somebody will have to play for me then!

I've actually had alot of fun just watching people play, mostly once the big fleets start rolling out. I watched a game yesterday where Paul Boyer (mormegil) was testing a logistics strategy where you'd make TONS of small ships and put them into a massive fleet, so basically he had about 3 swarms of 30-some fighters flying around the map, taking out the enemy ships like a swarm of locusts.

Very entertaining to watch.

How's the battery life on the Tablet with GalCiv2 running?  Can't wait to try it out!

I actually just saw a co-worker testing the game in portrait mode (1024X1600), and it was actually REALLY nice. I meen, the cutscenes play a bit funky (imtgine letterbox where the black bars are about the size of the movie) and the intro planet stretches funny, but it's pretty useful (listboxes are nice and long, you get to see alot of the map). Give it a try when you can
