Updates at home

Im pretty new to PC gaming and am somewhat familiar with how patches and updates work, but recently moved and now have no internet at home ( I'm at work now) Will it be possible to download patches and updates at a different cpu than the one im playing on and then maybe copy it to a cd and install it when i get there? I've never tried doing that before and im not too Comp savvy so forgive me if this is a retarded question. I just would really love the extra content and would hate to miss out on any cool stuff.

Will you never have Internet at your new place?  To be honest, I'm not sure on the answer to this one. Gonna have to get back to you.

it did happen to me too for more than 3 years not so long ago. As regular posters on forums we tend to forget that not everybody has the physical (depend on where you live) or financial means to be uptodate with their computers. For instance i have a laptap that runs fine and has got a good connexion but i won't be able to play Rome: Total War for at least 2-3 more years as i can't afford a new computer with a stronger video card....

Yes, you can do that just like with any other file. Just copy to a CD and when you get home run it from the CD!

You have to:

1. Download/save Stardock Central (latest version) and install it on the
home computer. You may want to input the appropriate serial #'s in Tools-Settings-Games after installation. In order to get the update(s) in the first place you need to have the Serial # input on the downloading computer.
2. Download/Archive the update to a selected Directory (Tools-Settings-Advanced)and save it to CD or Flashdrive, or other sneakernet appliance off the connected computer.
3. Run Stardock Central on the home computer - selecting offline. Put the location of the transferred file in the (Tools-Settings-Advanced) Archive-Restore block.
4. Go to File-Restore Archive and select.

Yeah times are a bit rough and it might be quite a while before i get the net back. Between the lil' chilluns and the wife it is all i could do just to get her to let me buy this game I would love to be able to update it another way but i would understand if i couldnt due to piracy precautions or whatever. Im sure the core game will be more than enough to entertain me for a long time. Any thought would be appreciated.
Oh, i just saw yur post SrGalen. That sounds complicated for a Goof like myself but i will give it a shot. Makes sense after all. I appreciate the input guys (or gals). Thanks!
