Is this game going to be avaible on DVD?

Will Galactic Civ 2 be avalible on DVD? I don't want to be juggling 6 cd's.

There's no copy protection, so you can save it to your hard drive, or write it on a DVD and play it from there.

However, I don't think the final size will be that big. The hard drive is a big selling point for me, as when I played Civ IV on battery power on my laptop (power outage)- I could only get about 80 mins of gameplay on a fully charged battery. From the hard drive it should be better if there's an outage and I need something to do.

I believe one of the Stardock reps stated the game will only be around 650 megs. Should only be one CD.

I remember seeing one of the reps stating that the goahead had been given to make it a 2-CD game. However, it will install once, and after that you only need the CDs to reinstall.

So long as it isnt ONLY available on DVD.. i dont care if it is 12 CDs (glad it isnt though heh)

This rapid transition towards DVD is kinda scary.. I dont have a DVD drive at this point and dont have the money to get one right now either... already one games i have wanted have only been available on DVD. I may have to start scrounging for a DVD drive before I miss out on a really good game.

As Popup Target posted, the latest word is that the game will be 2 CD's.

Then again, once you have your serial number, the CD's are just pretty pieces of metal and plastic...
I don't even remember where my GalCiv1 cd is

How come you guys aren't transfering to the DVD?

Because 2 CDs costs less than a DVD in bulk. Moreover, many retails (such as Walmart) won't accept DVDs in general.

Well...I still buying this game, but sooner or later we are all going to have to transfer to DVD-rom.

Hopefully when its downloaded, I will be able to back it up and install from one DVD.
I hate switching discs during install.

Stardock Central does have a backup/restore-mechanism that zips the installed files and allows installation from there, so you can just burn the archive(s) to whatever you like, along with a copy of the SDC installer.
