If you pre-order RetailCD here, can you also do the download?

I have preordered the Retail CD from Stardock (wanted them to get all the money, and wanted the extra content).

However, I don't want to wait.
Can I also do the electronic download? (Don't see any reason why shouldn't be able to.)

Nice to hear that... i pre-ordered mine copy today... just a lil to help indie studio like stardock, since they still care for old gamers, who grow up playing moo and civ 1...

What about for those of us who have preordered it...but forget if we pre-ordered the online or CD copy! Any way we can check that out?

Didn't you get an order ID or something?
Maybe if you look it up in the store it will tell you what you ordered...

I'm afraid you'll need to email sales@stardock.com.  That's not info I'm able to check.

When the game comes out, people who buy it from anywhere can download the whole game too.

Eh, I might have. It was done months upon months ago however, and an accident removed the preorder e-mail from existance. I'll contact Sales, thank you!

How would one do the download if the pre-order designates retail CD?

(Thanks for the clarification!...I will pre-order after getting this answer. I want the retail CD preorder goodies, but want to d/l the game the day that it releases. I am itching for GC2's release.)

I never pre-order games even when I'm 100% sure that I'll buy them (and I knew I'd buy GalCiv2 the moment I heard about it months and months ago). I have more faith in my ability to find the game here in Phoenix on release day than I do in any type of shipping. Not to mention that when it comes to something like GalCiv you can always buy the electronic download whenever (day of release). Usually I'm content to simply do electronic download but it is nice to have your own copy, a manual, and whatever other goodies.

With this news/clarification I immediately pre-ordered the CD version from Stardock!

So congrats - you're ridiculously excellent policies caused me to finally pre-order a game.

I don't know for sure but I'd guess that the only way to pre-order GalCiv2 is over the web (I kinda doubt there are pre-order boxes at retailers) - so they will most likely email you something to use via Stardock Central (if you don't pre-order from Stardock themselves, who would already have you in their DB at the time of ordering).

One thing worth to mentionning: having a CD version will surely allow you to install fastly the game. Since there will be video tutorials and a multimedia pack, I wonder how big will be the complete download, and how long it will take. I hope the Stardock servers won't be down due to the heavy traffic generated.

To put it simply, to be able to download the game, you need a valid serial id. So the question is:
if you have preordered a retail CD at Stardock, will you get a email with the Serial Id corresponding to the one in the box?

Heh... technically I think I'm supposed to get 2 or 3 copies of the game - I preordered it separate first... then subscribed to TotalGaming.net (which means I would get a copy for its 'new games in 1 year' policy), then TG.net went to its new system (where everyone gets GalCiv II for free if they were under the old system). Ah well... (with that I have multiple copies of GalCiv I as well... bought it retail).

Anyways, I'm sure its been asked a dozen times before... how is the extra content going to work for the preorders? (Also... would anyone be able to tell me what my first preorder of GalCiv II was...? (retail or just download))
