A Litte Concerned

Hello everyone, I have been looking over the forums and I am getting a bit concerned that there are so many bugs still left in the game so near to the release date. Does anyone in beta (I'm not) feel that the game is ready or will be ready for release ? I sure hope so, I have been looking forward to this game for a long time and since I never played the first one (never knew about it) my anticipation increases by the day. I can deal with a few bugs here or there since a bug fix should be forthcoming rather quickly. (from all that I have read Stardock seems to really support thier games) but I am just hoping that they are not rushing the release for the sake of staying on schedule. I'd rather wait than have an inferior build released. Thanks in advance for all those that respond to this post! :)

The reports you see here now are not at all representative of the state of the game--it went into private gamma testing around new years, so any bugs posted here now are from (by software development standards) very old builds.

As one of the gamma testers I can definitely say there is a big difference from the old builds being discussed in the public forum here, and the ones currently being worked on.

The gamma builds are a lot more solid. Each new gamma build just contains bug fixes and new content (like art, cutscenes and sound). They stopped putting in new features a while back. Don't be worried. There aren't many major bugs being reported now.

LOL... As history presents us, there are very few companies that will release a finished game the first time out. I am overly joyed that Stardock is not amoung these.

Oh, I'm not expecting a finished bug-free product. I never get that except on the most simplistic games. That being said, GC1's stability was very very good. I didn't buy on release, so I don't know what it's like- I waited for it to go on sale.

I'm expecting a bug level about what Civ IV had (which was minimal for me), with the patches ironing the rest out

As I've said before I'm confident GC2 will be successful at launch. Although its hard to imagine a game without bugs, I'm willing to bet their won't be more than a few if there is any (5000 bc ) I also expect it to be more successful in a way Civ 4 wasn't... with the graphics. I was lucky my card had TnL but it was sure apparent there were some angry civ folks for the first two weeks who couldn't play due to graphics issues. Yeah two patches later its happy civving. Firaxis didnt plan it, but it wasn't exactly as smooth a launch as they hoped. The irritating point to me was that I can play the latest RTS and FPS fine with my card, but Civ comes out and I feel violated. All through the beta everything was fine, 'cept for that one build which hosed a lot of NVidia cards. That's what beta was for

Mucho Success Stardock.
