Upgrading ship issues

parts disappear and useless items still in list

I've been playing trying to get the game to crash, but it isn't cooperating. But I did notice a weird issue with upgrading my ships. When I click upgrade in the ship designer, the important parts that I would want to upgrade (like weapons & defense) are missing. There's a space for them in the boxes, but I can't select it to remove it. Clicking on the part on the 3D model doesn't work either.

Also, obsolete upgrade components are still present in the parts list. If I have a smaller, cheaper and more powerful laser, I really don't want to see every laser I've ever had available. I mean, what's the point? It's clutter.

When upgrading ships in space, weird things happen. I would launch two ships I made, and then move one aside so I could click & upgrade it. But the other ship would get the upgrade. On top of this, it looks like the name of the ship didn't change to the upgraded model.

Well, that make sense since you could have renamed your ship without any reference to the model. Maybe if the name start with the name to the model (and only in that case), the upgrade process should upgrade your ship.

Somebody out there might actually individually name their ships. I can see this happening if you go for the fewer-but-larger approach. Therefore renaming ships based on class would overwrite ship names every time you upgraded.

On the other hand a lot of people seem to keep the automatically assigned ship name, which is based on class name and a random number. In which case updating the ship name does make sense.

Oh, the Drama.

Not sure that it is a random number. It looks more than an internal identifier for ships/starbase.
