I have always wondered since I have seen the new iMac that why does PC cases have to be so boring. many manerfacturers act like they just can't come up with a design that will fit in the office and living room. Sorry, I don't want a square box case with wood paneling... I don't call that design.

But the link I saw on Digg.com is something more to the point.

MAKE THAT PLEASE!!!

If you're looking for a classy, good-looking case for office or home, take a look at the antec p180. I'm using that case on my home system, and it's a nice quiet case with excellent cooling.

Yeh, saw this laser etching on a Powerbook:-

Maybe one day it'll be a standard service in shopping centres, next to the place where you get your keys cut...

Too many people who want lots of buttons in the PC world.

That is why Windows laptops look worse than Mac laptops.

I assume there is a similar explanation for why the cases are so boring.

Being a purist...I went for a Lian Li case...made out of simple aluminium....well thought out...a real PC Clone case...room to move and add-on...no issues with fitting components....manufacture quality is pure function without pretension.

Those kiddie-cases are for kiddies....and like ANY fashion statement are old-hat tomorrow.

If you have the attention span of a gnat....you might think a Half-Life themed case is 'with it' and 'hip' every time you wake......but intelligent people prefer quality to kitch...

The best example of form-follows-function that I have seen was the Apple Power Mac G4. Even the cables inside where fitted in a way that adding or removing components was surprisingly easy. NOTHING got in the way.

You just opened the door (one side of the case) and the computer would lie in front of you, next to the case.

For me the real issue is design. I can care less about a HALO2 related computer. The thing is basically is tht it can be done so why don't they do it?

I'll admit Dell's black on gray with its smilie face thingy seems nice. I just think it can be more cutting egde... heck, not even cutting edge, just more designed. Have you guys seen the Dell XPS? Ghaaaaa...

that lian li makes me think it's a huge tape dispenser *lol sorry i can't help it* - i think that alien ware releases some decent cases - like the star wars edition ones - but i do love the designs that apple uses - hec even the little egg-shaped emac was better than the beige box pc lol (gosh the beige box must be so old by now lol) - i love my iBook - i love the simplicity of it - i compare it to my boyfriends gateway laptop he has - it has so many buttons i never know which one to push to change the volume *i think i can in 2 different places but am not sure lol* my old gateway solo was pretty simple too - a few extra buttons, like quick access to mail and interent, but not like today's laptops w/ 5 million buttons and some on the outside to! i like simple and love my iBook - next one is a mac mini - that too is great design - especially for like college kids who live in dorms and dont' have much room... i think if pc manufacturers would start doing that also *alienware already does but not that small* then it would be better also than the same thing over and over... my parent's dell downstairs *1998* is the ugly beige box lol
