A few basic questions and issues

I listed below a few problems I am currently having with the beta 4 version along with a few questions.

1. I use a Realtek HD audio on my computer with all the latest drivers and am not getting a peep of sound. I have tried adjusting and resetting the in game values with no luck what so ever. Can anyone confirm if the Realtek HD audio is supported yet?

2. The only real problem I have with the user interface is when trying to click a point on the minimap that is close to the TURN button. If you are near the edge of the minimap close to that button, it highlights indicating if you mouse click the turn advances. I did that inadvertently a few times. It would be better (IMO) if the minimap was on the leftside of the screen rather than right.

3. I noticed that if a game is saved and an earlier game turn is loaded, that many of the star systems and resources show up thru the fog of war.

4. I noticed that when an alien is asking for a trade on the tradescreen, he states it backwards, wanting to trade for the research that he already has for one that I don't have. At first I thought it was some sort of Yoda speak..but I realized it wasn't:)

5. Where are the starbase modules? I can't seem to figure out how to make them or put them on an existing starbase. I am pretty sure I had all the correct techs. I think the easist way to do it would have been an "Add module" tab to the starbase details screen.

6. I noticed in the 3d mode (F3), the starmap scrolls very slowly fore and aft compared to left and right. Top view mode (F4) scrolling is constant in all directions.

7. Will there be a game editor in the release version?

I would like to add a general comment on the AI. I believe you guys are doing a pretty darn good job. I am not new to these type games and have to admit the AI surprised me on several occasions even playing in the simpleton mode. I would build a ship with a certain weapon and after a couple victorious battles the AI returned with modified ships with the appropriate armor or shielding to counter my weapons and have the weapons that countered my shielding. If I changed he would adapt. Reminds me of the Borg off Star Trek. Plus the AI new when to seek peace and when it was advantageous to attack and is pretty relentless in doing so making attacks in multiple places at once. Nicely done!!

1) did you install the multimedia package? It's a seperate install, and without it, there is no sound.

2) agreed.

3) I've noticed things showing through the fog of war even without reloading.

4) Also true.

5) Send more constructors, when they reach the starbase, you'll get a popup asking you if you want to expand that starbase, and if you say yes, it will present you with a list of options.

6) never tried it.

7) From what I understand, no, it will be coming later.

As for the AI comments, true, GC1 had one of the best AIs in 4X gaming so some of us have high hopes for the GC2 AI. I don't think they're done working on the AI yet, however, so you may be even more impressed by the final results. I know for a fact that at least some of the AI races are really bad at optimizing their planets to take advantage of bonus tiles.
