Two ships from two different empires stuck on a planet

I have a situation where a ship from empire X and a ship from empire Y are both occupping the same planet. I was at war with both empires, but I still couldn't attack them. Now they're stuck and I can't capture the planet. What can I do?

well doubt if you will be able to do this.. but if you trade for those ships you can then control them to move.. Maybe the AI is not seeing them as valid move targets when they have them on a planet by accident.

This problems occurs for me in lots of games. Usually I just move a scout or freighter close to the planet a nd the enemy takes the bait. Whats even more annoying is when this happens to a planet you own. I've had ally ships stuck below my planet before which stopped me moving anything to that planet.

I have seen a simliar problem, where some one elses ship gets stuck on my world. When you try to select your world you have to do it twice, once to select the other guys ship and once to get you world. Seems to be no way to get rid of that ship

Ships should stop getting stuck under stars in the next build. It won't help your saved games where they're under there, but new games will work properly.

Will that build also fix ships getting stuk on top of other ships?

In my curent game the Yor where at war with the Altarians. An altarian Battle-cruiser attaks an Yor Battle-cruicer and instead moves to the same location. Any reinforcements also get stuck. Currently the Yor are dead, but they stil have the SECOND-strongest navy, and the Altarians have kept sending reinforcements, the twenty latest ships in the stack are Altarian Avatars.

It truly looks stupid with a stack of 60 ships in mid-space. LOL LOL LOL

Same problem, get all the way down to the last world in the game and a ship from a defeated race is sitting on the world. Can't attack either the ship or the planet.

Try making peace with them. Somehow, a few turns later, they decided to move, and I came back and finished them off!

I have a few games with similar situations, but it's usually someone at war with me moving ships into the same location I already have others at. (In one case, the Drengin were attacking a stack of six transports, one was destroied, then the Drengin battleship moved under the other five and was unattackable until I move my ships out.) In that particular situation, the solution is simply to move all of the ships one space then attack.

A stopgap solution to the problem while waiting for it would seem to be to aquire the ships of one race and move them out yourself. If it happens often enough, you might even be able to assemble a significant sized fleet without maintinence. (Which reminds me, are the battleships from anomolies, and combat ships aquired from other races, supposed to be maintinence free?)

I have been in this situation and been able to successfully destroy the ships. Bear in mind I was using Avatars for this, but it should work for lesser ships.
Surround the star with eight ships. Send another ship to square up/right from the ship station up/right of the star. Send that ship to the square down/left of the star (i.e. on top of the ship already there). The ship moved in this fashion appears to correctly "see" the enemy ship and fires upon it.

Moving it just Up/Down or Left/right doesnt seem to do it. Hopefully this is fixed in the next build. But if you are stuck this might get you thru and allow you to finish the game.
