Anti virus?

Does anybody know why my anti-virus program doesn't respond? I mean I've tried talking to mcafee with no help to my problem.. I mean nothing happens when I click on anything. The icon in the tray or the program on program list itself. Does anybody know what's going on or maybe something to try?

It's possible it has been 'hijacked' by a virus...preventing its access/function.

Best solution initially is to search on Google for suitable keywords...

'mcaffee'

'no respond'

etc...

A lot of the Sober Viruses have been going around since friday.

Some of the variations tend to try and turn of antivirus programs.

On yrag's link, third from botttom ActiveSheild, click, fourth on next page gives info to do scan from dos, safe mode
command prompt for XP, may be a virus causing problem.
