i thought of a way that people couls cheat on metaverse, all they have to do is start on a big map and when they near winning save, send the score then load the save and repeat the process

It's perfectly acceptable to resubmit a save one time. Any attempts after that the metaverse will ignore.

Is there anything to stop someone from as suggested above saving a few goes before the end then repeatedly finishing the game and submitting a slightly different end-of-game several times for the same game?

I make no accusations as I can't be bothered to submit any games, but I've noticed in this forum some people commenting on how some players seem to play an astonishing number of games - coincidence? - We'll never know ;p

There are more infos packed into the submitted game then shown in the meta.
As far as i remember from an earlier comment from Cari, there is a unique code made for each game at the start, this is submitted too. And the Meta identifies that code and thereby sees how often one tries to submit the "same game" even if it has a different "history"

Oh and I've tested: Its easy to finish a game within less then two hours. The Geeks can do it in under an hour. So its realistic to be able to submit half a dozen games, if you have no RL ;)

I save the game at the start, sometimes I'll return to that and re-play the map in a diffent way, the game is completely different but the starting checksums would of course be the same. So if I submitted the scores of both to the MV either the 2nd would be ignored or it would replace the 1st.

Either is a bit cheesy if you've fairly played both games, but quite proper if you're trying to fiddle the scores.

So is there any way around this problem, the only one I can think of is for the program to save random additional checksums later in the game. If these are the same it is a fiddle attempt, if they are different, even with the same start checksum then it is probably fair. Then there is the potential problem of a player getting a start position that is stupidly favourable, saving that and then submitting loads of different games from that start.

The potential complications are legion, from the viewpoint as a developer I would leave it as it is, to do anything else would be sure to annoy someone.

This is true - the code is random. I had a genuine duplication the other week, and the elf-goddess had to intercede for me....
