Stardock: would it be possible to put all the empire threads into thier own forum? so we would end up having Galactic Forum, GC Strategies, GC Mods and GC empires? this would make the general forum a bit easier to read for those who dont have, (but maybe tried ;) like me), an empire.

Thanks

Thank you for your kind offer, but im only interested in +normal skill level / pure evil players. I will try again, i got kind of 'flame grilled' by another empire on my post last time but i will try again, and im not 'bitter', just bemused that i was flamed thats all, wasnt expecting it as everyone is so friendly round here and it was my first attempt thats all. I do believe though that i was asking for votes on a new forum though, not looking for peeps for my empire ;)

Oh, yes. I think it would make sifting the forum a lot easier if the empire threads were "pre-sifted."

Either peeps is to busy playing the new beta or they must like the clutter ... come on fellow GalCivians speak up :D

Well, since I'm busy playing the new beta, I hadn't give this much thought. But why not? There are indeed many empire threads.

On the other hand most of the active posters are in empires (at least that's my observation lately). Isn't there a risk that by putting them in a separated forum will make the galciv forum less active (where new players come with questions)? I mean the "old players" may come and check the empires forum for new posts, but not the other forum. As it is now, whenever you connect to discuss with your empire players, you get to see all the active threads and the new ones.

I'm not suggesting it is a bad idea to have separate forums, just wondering about "undesired side effects".

I just thought it was logical, the new players would be directed to the main forum anyway, the forum button on the top of the site takes you straight to the main forum, as it is at the moment the empire threads are, as you quite rightly pointed out, the most active ones which means as the empires grow there posts will be at the top in the forum and any questions from newcomers will end up underneath them, which is why i thought another forum would be a good idea. You go the Galactic Forum when you have a general question, news on patches etc, you go and look in the GC Mods for help with mods, you go to the GC Strategies for newcomer / advanced strategies and i thought you would go and look in the GC Empires for all the empire threads. Just would put things in all the right boxes then :)

I do get your point.
It was just a passing thought :)

a forum for just "empire-threads" is not a bad idea.

im going to suggest one rule for the forum if it ever does happen. allow only 1 or maybe 2 thread per empire in this proposed forum, and also, no "empire-less" threads would be allowed. with this rule, we wont have to worry about having multiple pages of pointless threads, and also it would make it impossible for any empire to clog the forum with multiple recruitment threads.

I have been reading this, and although I am in my own empire, I agree with this idea. My suggestion would be to keep the forum as is, minus the empire threads. Then, create a new page for empire threads, and put the link on the forum site, say in that grey spot at the top. Do a vice versa on the empire thread site. This would get new people (like me) to the main forum, and the empire threads on a closely linked page. The only minus I see is what you guys have already mentioned, the lack of experienced people on the main threads to help newbies (again me). Just an idea for anyone to bite on and spit out.
Another idea, on the empire thread site, allow only one main thread per empire, and maybe have the join up posts on the main forum, keeping the empire threads and the main threads joined by players w/o empires looking at both to see the kind of people in the empire, and contribute on the main page. Again, anyone who wants to chew this up, go ahead.

Oh right :D now the penny drops, yes i see what you mean, if they move the empire threads then the experienced players wouldnt have the newcomer questions right in front of them and respond, they would have to go the main forum and read through the noob posts, so there would be less feedback for new players, good point.
