Need Bombarder ships

I will admit that this is one of the best games I've played in a long time, but bombader ships are need bad. Why, because one will drain his own empire of people, trying to invaded other worlds, especially when the ai civ gang up on you. I just finshed a hugh war against the arcains and their allies, man I'm telling you, I drained entire systems down to 96 people. seven of the arcain systems had millions!!! This other stuff thats their before invasion is nice, but planetary bombarment will cut through the chace, and allow us to either commence occupation, or leave it to another ai civ. Planetary bombardment would be very nice

I do not build CT's on Planets with less than 15 B people. I do not build Transports on Planets with less than 3 B people.

Bombers are anounced for the free expansion-set.

The more "special effect" ships we have, the more the AI needs to be brought to speed on how to use them.

This includes bombers, cloaked ships and suggestions such as jammers and artillery ships etc.

With our current ship classes, we already do coordinated attack/invade moves more efficiently than the AI. With attack/bomb/invade, I can see planets falling faster to humans.

I'm not against new ship classes, my concern is with the potential weakening of the AI relative to humans.

The AI already does not make good use of the 2 expansion ships, the Anti Matter Missle and the Excaliber.

I've seen the AI build AMMs, but never use them effectively (which is good, AMM is usually how I win wars). I've stolen Exc. tech and built ONE ship, which I then use to wipe out the entire AI fleet.... they are still churning out Overlords.

I've seen the AI try to build terror stars once or twice... never seen one completed, never seen the AI use one.

I agree, new units would surely be really neat, and probably quite useful ... however adding them will undoubtedly undermine the enemy AI, unless they get a considerable update as well.

I think the original idea behind the metaverse (ai getting beefed up using winning human strategies) could even the playing field between humans and ai ... I don't see it coming to fruition in the near future though.

Ail.St - I hear you saying what you don't use, but I'm telling you - I had no choice. I was pulling everything out of every corner to prevent myself from being destroyed. The ai I was struggling against had allied with two smaller civ, and they declaired war against me also (which I think was great), But "WOW!" The struggle to stay a-float became my primary concern! I know this is nothing but a game - but it is very emersive, I was worried throughout the entire struggle. I gained the upper hand only by invasion, but the troops HAD TO COME FROM EVERY CONNER OF THE EMPIRE, or I would have surely lost the war. I don't know how many systems they had, but I had to invade every system and it drained my empire of its people. That's why I think bombarders ships and all the rest are necesary in this game. If I knew how to do what I wanted with this game - I would, and then show you what I've done - but you guys are the guys that know best, and I'm grateful for you guys. Nonetheless - the ability to bombard a planet and then decide whether to invade or leave it to an ai civ to colonize - is a health choice, and it would ease the population drain on the empire! Becoming ruler of the galaxy doens't mean populating every planet that you have conquered. To have a choice of invading the planet or simply destroy the surface of the planet is a decision of any conquering empire. But like I said - you guys know best
and if any body appreciates you guys - it's certainly me! By the way - what happened to the tools that would allow you to make small (or) large changes - or were these tools every made available?

Actually bombadier ships will probably make the AI
tougher as currently one if its big problems is
facing a human with a massively larger population.

If it could just bomb that population into exctinction
rather then trying to use its own pitiful population
to capture mine, well, that doesnt work.

Had a game where the AI had 10 times my fleet, declared
war, took out lots of starbases of mine, took 2 systems
but once starbases were gone and my fleet was gone
he couldnt do anything. Eventually my massive
production caught up and overwelmed him.

And the two systems I lost were just pitiful
colonies I had built in his home sector in a failed
attempt to cultural flip him.

I lost no major systems, just a bunch of starbases and
ships. Net effect on me was almost ziltch and this
is about as bad as it ever gets.

I agree about planetary bombardment.

There needs to be a happy medium between TERROR STAR and SOLDIERING.

I mean, come on...the days of the Vietnam War are over...no need to send in troops that stand little chance of success...but then again we don't wanna blow up the whole planet right?

If not a ship...then even a missile that can attack a planet and destroy population would be nice. SOMETHING...ANYTHING! I'm finding soldiering advantage to be a much bigger benefit lately.

Since only one transport can land at a time, and ships can not bombard ahead of time, it makes soldier to soldier fighting a little un-realistic.

Don't you already have that without a new ship type? You just invade using a different option than the conventional warfare- use tidal disruptors or whatever.

You still need a transport and the troops you have
are still the biggest factor in determing success
or failure.

When you invade a planet whose population is in the millions, the present options are nice, but come-on, Even in our day we can destroy the population with little damage the surrounding cities. I'm not trying to compare any game to this one, but SEIV had planetary bombardment, and weapons you could choose to do the job. I personally think that Galciv stomps SEIV, but SEIV had commondities that were nice, and would be much nicer in this game. I should be able to dessimate the surface of a planet (before sending in troops),or destroy the planets population. Lets face it guys - This game has enourmus potential, and with the right modifications - it would be a nightmare to the publishers competitors, not to mention being a dream come true to guys that find stratefy, tactics, and a touch of deplomacy to a space 4x game very juice. In all right - this game has no match, yet it lacks in so much that could (and should) be possible in a game of this kind. Nonetheless, you can't be cooking while playing this game! I wouldn't have been very upset if I had missed this game! I'm very happy I bought it, but I'm still sorry (not disappointed) that the full potential of the game will not be provided! More planets, larger maps, different shapped galaxies, that can be reached durring the progress of the games is grand! Yet, shouldn't we be able to mine asteroids and planets for resources without having to populate it? Shouldn't there be sectors that become vital to security and other interests to the civ that owns that sector! Having carriers, mines Starbases that can dock entire fleets etc. are important to this kind of game. But guys listen - it just an opinion, I'm not arguing or fussing, because as it is (and with the additions they are making) the game is grand!!! I'm very happy with it, but good strategy and tactics and other important commodities needed in the game, are really lacking! Still - I recommended this game to a lot of the guys I know that love this games nature and most of them bought it! In all right - Galciv - LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!!!!
