If you become tired of the Mercenary life and are looking for a permanent home, come on over to the Republic of Aldar. All we offer is a pretty cool logo.

The Force has showed me that your life as mercenary is coming to an end. It is time to return to your old Jedi way before the ex-pirates of the RIP GROSS empire ambush you for what you did to their empire, so return at once to the Jedi Academy where you must proceed with your training inmediately!!!!

This is one of the coolest/funniest posts I have read; I wish I would have thought of it. What do you charge? Do you sign a contract or just give your word?

The ANZAC Imperium, rising from the ashes of the ANZAC Republic, is in need of trusted mercenaries as it seeks to reastablish itself in a new part of the galaxy.

Joining guarantees beer, snags, sun and mullets. Be a part of something new, oh hammer007...

LOL The word of a Mercenary is all you need. Trust is the very foundation on which Merc corp. will build it's reputation as the premier Mercenary group (ahum meaning me) in the metaverse.
What would be cool is if the Metaverse was enhanced to allow empires to put part of it's points (a percentage over and above what everyone contributes perhaps) in a bank which could be used for mercenaries groups to barter with or empires to wager with. I think the metaverse is the single greatest feature outside of the game which keeps me coming back for more.

That would be fun.

To the ANZAC Imperium your offer of beer, snags, sun and mullets is met with our hearty approval. We could especially use the beer and sun as our homeland begins to freeze over. The Merc corp. will close down bidding on wednesday and announce the winner then. I think it will be hard to top your offer so take heart you currently have a clear lead as the one and only empire
seeking our services. ;)

Interesting idea, Hammer007. :)

Why don't you create your own Mercenaries empire and have your own flag while you do your contracting? Of course you need to do this monthly in between your merging with client empires during the term of your contract.

This would give your group an identity which I believe would be very useful, especially if your group grows.

I would have loved to employ your services when we were having those neck to neck races for the million point marks just to tip us over first. :)

Good to see the establishment of such an unique empire.

All the best in recruiting Mercs to your banner.

Just finished reading a couple of hundreds of empire posts.

Wanted to warn you that mercenaries are currently viewed rather dimly by some. Be sure your cilents are clear about your terms of reference before you accept the contract. :)

not a bad idea.

since you are evil, Evil Empire wouldnt mind having you help fill out our ranks for a month. we have one condition however -you must keep your evil morality.

G.R.O.S.S. has no mercenaries.
G.R.O.S.S. needs no mercenaries.

Join G.R.O.S.S. and ye shall have all the aussie wine/beer and women you want. We plunder it regularly. Leave when you have enough for your needs.

Hammer,

If you're serious about this (shudder), you may want to consider setting up a separate Metaverse account - all you need is a second email address. Use it to create a "figurehead" persona to be the emperor of Mercenaries, Inc. That way, you can submit your games as Hammer007 while leaving the empire's structure intact (at 0 points) so that you don't need to re-create it every month. It would also serve as a place for new recruits to join up, waiting for the next month's mission.

Now if the Europeans were setting this up, there'd be committee meetings to plan everything...

For the record, this sounds like either an innovative new dimension for the Metaverse, or a REALLY BAD IDEA. Either one. :notsure: Regardless, Special Forces declines to participate in the bidding war as our alcohol budget has already far exceeded our disposable funds.

Thanks for the advice Obi Wan I will set it up soon.
I have had 2 offers. Anzac Imperium Empire and the Evil Empire. While I am drawn to the Evil Empire (whom I consider my brethren in the dark side)I have decided to give my services for this first month to the Anzac Imperium. The offer of "beer, snags, sun and mullets" is too compelling. The contract will begin tomorrow. I hope during the term of this contract to complete 2 more games as a means of enhancing your position in the metaverse. I am currently studying early economic development of a game at the painful level. This level is appropriately named. :)

Hail Anzac may your Empire grow I am yours now.

Obi Wan I believe only one account can be set up at a time. Since the account is tied to your serial number.
I don't see anyway around this.
Perhaps an enhanced metaverse would take the mercenary element into consideration. Allowing an Merc empire to empty itself of it's members without shutting down the empire. Just a thought. :)

Not true! Your Stardock account is tied to your email address - you don't even need to own the game to sign up. So, if you have a second email address, you can do it. I set up a spare account just to be able to surf for unused nicknames in preparation for laying down the Obi Wan mantle. I shall demonstrate:

And back to Obi Wan. Nifty, eh?

Of course, it would have been far more scintillating if I could have fit all three posts on the same page. But the idea is sound. Let your "newbie" persona run the Empire while you're away. You can switch back and forth as needed.
