New to the Jedi Republic

Greetings fellow Republic Members:
I am reciently new to the game (although the system lost my 1st two postings) and will hopefully be submitting some new games here in the next week or so.
I may be "out of the loop" for a little while as my wife is due with our first child next week, so I may not be that active.
A little history of myself. I'm 34 and joined our armed services in March when I shipped off to Ft. Benning GA for Basic Training. My 1st duty station is here in the Valley of the Sun at Ft. Huachuca AZ (that's pronounced Why Chuca)
I got hooked into GalCiv by Obi Wan (whom I've known for 20 years). My nick name was derived from when I played the Star Wars role playing system. My character is/was a former Imperial officer who had a brush with Darth Vader and got creeped out since he was Force Sensitve (but didn't know it). Obi Wan should be posting the picture I used for that up on the website shortly. (No pressure there Obi).
I'm hereby requesting permission from Grand Admiral Sherbert to join the Grand Fleet of the Republic, to be commissioned and assigned a ship as he sees fit. And on the same note, requesting leave to witness the birth of my first child.
I know that this is a lenghty post, but I can be long winded sometimes.
