defrag broke my Galciv

XP's defrag seems to break Galciv, Stars on the mini map go away. the defrag report said some stuff in Galciv could not be defraged. Had to reinstall and reregister on Metaverse. I have the Beta.

I use defrag every 2-5 days and have had no problems here .. running winXP pro. What it could be is that some of the files may have been locked as in use, due to a crash of GalCiv. Or it may be a Hard Drive problem. Either way Defragging doesn't corrupt it by itself. I to am running the latest beta.

Sounds like you need to run Chkdsk /f (scandisk). You may have a corrupted FAT.

I'm not as computer savy as many on this board; but I've de-fragged XP with games in progress and have never had a problem.
Has this happened more than once?
