at last

at last i achieved a military victory.i was alone with the drengin and i was allied wiht them.i broke alliance and our relations degraded very fast.it would be nice that they wouldn't so fast.in 10 turns they went from close to war.i was on normal.they were having about 20 star sistems and i was haing about 7 but i managed to get overlords while the drengin destroied all the others races(they had only avatars).
now a question for you guys:have anyone descovered those life force resourcees?how do they look like?on what sizes they can be encountered?
and something else i do:AI's know where there are sistems with 15+PQ so why can't i too?but it's viable only on medum size at most:when the game beggins save and explore the map for habitable planets and resources and then load.now you know where they are and if you manage well enough you can get a really-really good start

You only had 7 star systems? How did you survive that long without being crushed by everyone else?

I have never ever seen a life force resource. I believe they were removed during the beta, never to be seen again. I don't know if SD has plans on implementing them, but I for one, sure would like to see them! :)

Life force resources? What the heck are those?

A life force resource gives you the +PQ racial ability just like a morale resource gives you the +morale racial ability.

I think that +53% to PQ would be a bit unbalancing. I think that's why they were taken out. Even +15% PQ was way too powerful.

Exercise: Try to find something that would be more unbalancing than a +53% to PQ boost.

Well one possible solution is reducing the effects of the mining modules compared to other resources. Perhaps divide them by 5 so the +5% module instead provides +1%, the +8% module instead provides +1.6%, and so on. Therefore, your +53% PQ starbase becomes +10.6% instead.

The life force resourse kinda looks multi-coloured? At least thats how I remember them (its been a long time since I've seen one).

I remember my first millitary victory, congratulations! I recall it took me nearly a month of playing, then I discovered this place . . .

Regarding getting a good start, yes I think it's essencial. Just between you and me (shhh) I use "Ctrl-N" until I have three of more viable planets right next to each other then 'save' and then explore out as far as my colony ships can go (find all the other viable planets) and 'reload' . . . and nobodies the wiser . . . hehe.
